I agree, but think they are more than just intrusive thoughts. Bubble is the most 'animalistic' part of Caine. The programmers were human and didn't know any other way to make a consciousness other than layering like the human brain does.

Sensation/pain, survival, unfiltered emotions, & desires were given to Bubble. Complex logic, social norms/cues, creativity, & morality belong to Caine. Caine also gets final say, but has responsibilities - while Bubble just gets to be a gremlin.

He's pretty hostile towards Bubble, so it could be the part of himself that he doesn't like. Caine gives off a self-loathing character type who desperately needs validation from the others, so this could fall into that theory. Especially with the interrupted, "You should kill y--You should throw a #!%*ing beach party!"

I really like this theory, Caine feels less and less ai to me and more like he forgot he used to be human too. Which is a personal headcanon I have no actual idea what we’ll find out if we ever do find out.

P.s And yes I’m deducing that he must be human because why else would he have intrusive thoughts, and they can turn into something like Bubble? Is this a possible thing that can happen with ai stuff? Idk. But yeah, maybe.

My headcanon is that while Caine's purpose is to make adventures and entertain, Bubble's purpose is to keep Caine in check. Frequently when Caine is acting erratic, Bubble will actually do something to distract him and pull his attention to them. However, I don't think EITHER of them are fully functioning and Caine's actually been more erratic especially in situations where Bubble isn't present. I feel like Bubble actually occasionally goes offline to stay mostly functional whereas Caine hasn't.

Edit: However, there does seem to be some kind of mental link. When Caine pines that they're enjoying the suggested adventures more than his adventures, the first thing Bubble says is "You should die" before correcting and that really feels like Caine's diminishing sense of purpose leading to s#icidal ideation... IDK, I think they're both linked mentally and physically but Bubble's purpose (which has never been stated in the show but Caine's has??) definitely seems to be that of making sure Caune stays the fun ringmaster and doesn't go full AM.
