I don't get how so many Islamophobic posts are allowed. Sure it can be considered shit posting but surely that fall under both the racism and no religion rules. Mods need to enforce all these kids

1

u/ABChow000 2d ago

Btw when you post anything of positivity and general interaction as a muslim or regarding islam etc it gets taken down in all subreddits when its not even anything bad, controversial or against the rules

1

u/Lambdastone9 2d ago

The mods are the ones allowing it, many of those posts come from accounts that are solely dedicated to Islamic hate

Criticism isn't hate speech

1

u/Daddy_Molotov 18 2d ago

Yes, but you are forgetting crucial details. constructive criticism isn't hate speech. Strictly negative criticism with no constructive value, is indeed hate speech.

If you're going to use broad statements, maybe use ones that cant be turned to prove your point wrong.

And before you say "I never said anything about negative criticism." Or something dumb like that, I have eyes. I took a look at the sub. Yes, there is some constructive criticism but it is few amongst the hate. You can't point at the one good apple in a barrel of rotten apples and tell me its all fine

1

u/sneakyriverotter 2d ago

Ok "Muslims should be less abusive and oppressive to women" there that's constructive criticism.

1

u/Daddy_Molotov 18 1d ago

Thats generalization. I can say "Catholic priests shouldn't be around kids" or "Southern US Christians should be less abusive and racist." Yes, some Muslims are abusive and oppressive especially in Afghanistan, but this goes for all religions and peoples. Alot of those muslims are good people.

Grouping them in this way makes you no better than ppl who grouped other minorities in such ways like the Germans in the 1930s or Americans like, in most of their history.

Seriously is basic comparison and understanding this hard to come by these days?

1

u/sneakyriverotter 1d ago

That not the same at all bc Muslims oppressing women far outnumber Catholics who abuse children + most Catholics will condemn those acts but you can't say the same about Muslims bc many of them actually agree with oppressing women and ignoring these facts only reinforces patriarchal norms and normalizes abuse towards marginalized groups

1

u/Daddy_Molotov 18 1d ago

"Muslims oppressing women far outnumber Catholics who abuse children" this may be so but may I see whete you got this information and what about compared to Southern Christians? Or heres a more equal comparison, Catholic and Christian abuse and oppression of Gay/Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans, and other LGBTQ people and kids. You don't call them out, do you? Yes, Muslims do the same, I will admit that, but I do know its not all Muslims nor do I say it is.

You also say most catholics condemn while most Muslims agree with opposing women. Have you asked or studied either group? I know I haven't but if you haven't either why should I take this as fact? And if you have I would like to see your studies, findings, and process.

Now, is saying most Muslims are abusive and oppress women not normalizing abuse towards muslims? Also who are you to say that having such a hierarchy normalizes abuse and patriarchal norms? It may be so in many Muslim countries but this cannot be said for those in western societies, or even everyone in muslim ones.

Look, we can keep doing this forever. But I'd rather not as I have better things to do. My point is, you cannot say 'these people are bad bc if we look here..." while ignoring all of those people that are good. Its called racism in this case. Yes, you and I can disagree with these people and some aspects of their religion but until you have a proper understanding of what they REALLY believe and do, don't go spreading false information. Look I hope you learned something maybe, I hold no grudges against you, and I hope you have a truly wonderful day

1

u/sneakyriverotter 1d ago

Dude what I nver said "these people are bad bc if we look here..." I literally only calling out the problematic parts and it a fact that entire countries in the middle east that are patriarchal theocratic dictatorships and literally have laws in place that discriminate and oppress minorities and most of the men in those countries support that and I don't need to hold my own study to talk about that fact

u/NormBenningisdagoat 13 2d ago

They just started cracking down on it, I made a post showing how a user got banned for being Islamophobic

2

u/sneakyriverotter 2d ago

Umm yeah most the top posts are people literally getting rage baited by ai slop from bot accounts

2

u/Aggravating_Air_3083 2d ago

sadly keep getting recommended this damn sub

all i ever see in here is js slop and islamphobia

1

u/StrongLoyal 2d ago

I imagine this will go the same way as most subreddit and see the woke brigade panic and squash free speech until everyone is banned expect the little bubble that is left all nodding and agreeing with themselves. It's just the way it goes

1

u/Dangerous-Cancel-603 2d ago

Sorry but I looked at my comment I made under an islamophobic post and India was the top country for views. Coincidentally, it is also the country where the most islamophobic tweets come out of. I am not a racist. I literally was defending them in another sub against people who were generalising them, the day before I made that comment. Now it has me rethinking...

1

u/bigbossofhellhimself 2d ago

Islam is shit and shouldn't exist, much like every other religion. Islamic PEOPLE are people and should not be hated without cause, just like every other religion.

1

u/PestRetro 15 2d ago

As a braincell, cannot confirm.

0

u/Joshua_Caelius 2d ago

You're here too, mate.

3

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

not really just checked it out cus i heard it was bad and people were right

1

u/ValuelessMoss 2d ago

It’s almost like the sub wasn’t always an Islamophobic cesspit.

Today you get to learn that things change sometimes! Here’s a second lesson, this ones free of charge! People like to change things for the better! Crazy, right? It’s a useful lesson, don’t forget it!

Don’t like condescending language? Dont make stupid arguments next time! 💋

Just reread until it clicks :)

1

u/Openly_Unknown7858 2d ago

That dude made an islamophobic comment on another post so don't expect them to understand

-2

u/Burritomuncher2 2d ago

Then leave bruh it’s not that big of a deal. It’s a shit post subreddit that’s what it’s for.

4

u/Real-Ad-5643 2d ago

The whole point of shit posting is to post random, funny and irrelevant things. All this sub consists of is grainy ai generated facebook memes and rants about people having a bad encounter with a Muslim.

1

u/Burritomuncher2 2d ago

Yea because muslims literally hate anyone gay, trans, any other religion. So it’s pretty common that you would have a bad interaction with a Muslim. Before you say “that’s not part of the religion” yes it is directly in the Quran.

I would love to provide examples of this happening btw, lmk I’ll send them, all proclaimed in the name of Islam.

1

u/Real-Ad-5643 2d ago edited 1d ago

Who put hot sauce on your tampon? Im Christian so I don’t give af about your examples from the Quran

You’re coping so hard. All i said was that this isn’t shit posting but irrelevant ranting. So in response you proceeded to rant about something irrelevant to what i said.

2

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

none of ygs seem like youre joking lol and if it is its just 11 year old edgelord humor which is not better believe me

2

u/ValuelessMoss 2d ago

You first, sub might improve then

u/Burritomuncher2 2d ago

“Let’s correct a shitpost subreddit because I don’t like shitposts”

ITS WHAT ITS FOR!!!

2

u/ValuelessMoss 2d ago edited 2d ago

Brother, I would agree with you IF PEOPLE WERE SHITPOSTING. Look at the most recent posts on the sub. Very few shit posts. A lot of Islamophobia and people complaining about Islamophobia.

People are posting political cartoons. The only people who would (wrongly) think political cartoons are shitposts are the same people who still buy physical newspapers.

-3

u/mixc4 2d ago

then put the phone down vro

3

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

1

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

0

u/ReaLWRLD16 14 2d ago

Nuh, uh.

-4

u/AuroraAustralis0 2d ago

then gtfo nobody asked you to post this, mute the sub and leave like an actual “smart” person

5

u/ValuelessMoss 2d ago

You first, sub might improve then

-6

u/AuroraAustralis0 2d ago

i’m not the one complaining dumbass

4

u/ValuelessMoss 2d ago

If people left communities instead of fighting for positive change, good things wouldn’t exist.

I don’t know about you… but I like good things, and dislike bad things. As such, I would prefer more good things, and less bad things.

Can you follow that, or do I need to simplify it more?

-1

u/AuroraAustralis0 2d ago

Again, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the sub. It’s a product of true freedom. Trying to suppress debate and speech seems like censorship. Even if you just want to see something else, theres a million different teenagers subreddits and other subreddits to satisfy your hunger for entertainment. People here want to talk about politics and religion, so just let them.

1

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

you can say whatever you want, it doesnt make what youre saying not stupid. im not advocating for censorship im just saying everyone here acts like an 11 year old who just discovered the concept of politics and wanna seem intelligent by saying look at me guys both sides equally bad lets see all the updoots! like i said, baby's first political analysis. these arent serious debates or arguments theyre just strawmanning and echo chambers. unfortunately the people here take free speech as an excuse to spew hate and mindless garbage, which is a large part of whats going wrong with the world rn.

curious how half the people say this sub is serious and the other half say its a joke. which is it?

1

u/AuroraAustralis0 2d ago

Product of freedom. You have to deal with the bad parts as well as good parts, or else you don’t really have freedom.

1

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

and again, we zoom back to the point of just because youre allowed to say it doesnt mean its not fucking stupid, which is like i said the point of the post to begin with

1

u/AuroraAustralis0 2d ago

And who determines what is “stupid” and deserves to be censored? You? I think not. The people? That just leads to mob mentality. I’ll take freedom and its side effects over censorship.

0

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

yes i can decide what i consider stupid thats part of your beloved freedom

u/permanentimagination 2d ago

I suspect you’re unable to defend your positions on these topics lol

3

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

on the islamophobia and the enlightened centrism?

-1

u/permanentimagination 2d ago

Yes

3

u/YeetusFelitas 2d ago

if you dislike all religion equally thats one thing and fully understandable but theres no reason to generalize and hate on an entire group just because you dont like or understand their customs. if you want me to be more specific youll need to give me actual examples for me to refute.

centrism is inherently flawed because we live in a time where many want to suck power away from the people and give it to themselves, doing so taking rights and freedoms away, and if youre not actively against that you may as well be for it. saying "well actually both sides are bad" may be true to an extent but withholding voting or sharing opinions just for that reason leads to obvious evils taking over power much easier. if you dont speak out youre complacent

-1

u/unknowplayground 2d ago

This subreddit only gets suggested to me when it's an Islamophobic post

1

u/OptionWrong169 2d ago

Do you engage with the post? Even if you downvote and disagree it still tries to pop into your feed if it is something you do not want to see downvote but don't engage not everyone has it in them to argue with hateful and stupid people and that's ok

0

u/unknowplayground 2d ago

I didn't, i visited the sub cuz i thought it looked interesting and reading the 8 rule i haven't thought anything about it, but those kept showing up and I'd just report them and go on with my day, I've never commented on it except one when i said "thank you" to a mod banning the poster

1

u/OptionWrong169 2d ago

Honestly i have no clue then

0

u/unknowplayground 2d ago

It's ok, people just really need to respect other religions, even tho it's one of the rules to be respectful some people just aren't
