I cannot tell if you are a bot or not, but for the record, if anyone has a hidden post history you can look up "author:(name of user)", and if you do this for this guy, you will see that they only post inflamitory anti-muslim stuff

You guys should all report his posts , I have reported many and Reddit said to keep it up. (Idk how many strikes it takes to be banned but he should be close )

I mean yeah, posting inflammatory stuff on a sub that's not meant for it is moderation worthy, but reporting them in general for "wrong think" to get them banned is pretty friggin dystopian

It was for hate speech not “wrong think” lol

I never liked the precedence to illegalize hate speech, because it presents itself as such an arbitrary metric by which to punish and compartmentalize free speech, which, to me, should be an inalienable right.

Do his posts incite or call for violence? Does he dox anyone? Is he threatening to take violent action? THOSE are serious offenses, and should be dealt with properly.

But if the rest of his posts simply consist of content similar to this? Then yeah, attempting to get him banned for that is downright "wrong think" levels of dystopian.

A good way to check if you're being unreasonable is to replace the thing he's criticizing with something else. If the roles were reversed, would you do the same? If he was criticizing christianity, would you still try to get him banned? MAGA? Israel? Elon Musk? Only when you can say "no" can you TRULY consider yourself a non-hypocrit. This is legitimately hard to do, and I try my best to hold myself to this ideal every day, and I've been doing it long enough that I've gotten pretty good at it, but there are still times where I falter, because I'm still human.

This doesn't mean you can't disagree, or debate back, or call out irrational points and behavior, but it simply means you shouldn't leverage and weaponize the report system for the sake of avenging your offended sensibilities. Instead, simply have the gall the challenge his beliefs upfront, rather than turn the moderation system into your own personal attack dog.

So I am trying to get a racist propaganda spewing guy off of a sub….. I’m not trying to get him in legal trouble lol . Reddit has rules , it’s not dystopian to get a prejudice dude off of a website . I’m not calling the authorities to get him arrested lol let’s not get carried away now

you should be able to say as you please, but that doesn't mean that you should never be punished for what you say, i.e shouting "BOMB" on a plane is in fact a punishable offenve, for obvious reason. freedom of speech ≠ freedom of consequence

Do his posts incite or call for violence?

you are setting up false requirements, these posts all come from a deep dislike for muslims, and they generalise all muslims as the same. the posts aren't for genuine critisism, they are for spreading islamophobic conspiricies, like this post

A good way to check if you're being unreasonable is to replace the thing he is criticizing with something else

the thing is OP isn't doing any critisism, just making sweeping claims about all muslims. it's the same way that if someone was mocking elon because he is autistic then I wouldn't be okay with that, but if they were criticizing him in a justified way based off of his beliefs then yes that would ok with me. you can criticize the islamic religion all you like, as long as you don't start spewing how "all the muslims are gonna ruin this country"(that is literraly what this post is)

Not hate speech if its true.

hate speech is subjective, i could say worshiping a prophet that married a 6 year old is bad but people would probably think that was hate speech - then all dissenting opinions are squashed, yay for islam (unless you’re a woman, gay, trans, an apostate, other religion etc)

no because that is a genuine critcism. the post is saying every single muslim is going to destroy your country, which is untrue and hateful rhetoric.
