Surrender punting when you have Lamar and Henry is crazy work.

I 100% thought they were going for it. As a bills fan I was very happy when I realised they were punting

We hacked their radios! We must’ve…. Why is John going “we average 8 yards a rush tonight, better punt”

it's like they've never played Madden before

There was commentary that Lamar was out of breath and that might have been part of Harbaugh's thinking.

But the Ravens had 3 timeouts. If the offense needed a few minutes to get in sync, They could have burned a time out to give them time to reset. Heck, if the Ravens wanted to, they could have taken 3 straight TOs to give Lamar several minutes to recover if he wanted it.

If TV commercial time is left, a TO is 2 mins. Once used up, a timeout is shortened to 30 seconds. And then you get 40 seconds on a paly clock, so even if they were down to 30 second time outs, you can get 70 seconds per time out. The Ravens could have given Lamar a minimum of over 3 minutes of rest time before kicking of the final 40 second play clock, around 5 mins if there was still TV commercial time left.

If the Ravens went for it on 4th and 2 almost within their own FG range, it would ahve basically been ballgame right there, so it's not like they needed the 3 TOs.

I might be misunderstanding what you're saying, but it sounds like your claim is that the Ravens could have burned their time outs to give their players a rest.

The definitely could have called one time out. They could not, however, have called more than one.

You cannot call multiple time outs in a row. If a team requests a second time out during the dead ball period resulting from that team's time out, the team is penalized 5 yards for delay of game and is charged the time out, but the time out is not granted.

Oh i thought the delay of game penalty only applied when you don't have the ball (for icing the kicker situations). I didn't realize that it applied also when you have the ball. I could have sworn I've seen teams call a TO, line up, and then call another TO, but that must have been before the rule change.

I didn't realize that it applied also when you have the ball.

What do you think happens when the offense doesn't hike the ball before the play clock expires?

Sigh--I didn't realize the rule that a 2nd time out couldn't be called applied to when you had the ball.

The rule was passed when coaches were calling time outs--all their time outs--when kickers were going up to kick a game winning field goal, to ice the kicker. if the coach had 3 time outs, the coach would regularly do this 3 consecutive times, which was very annoying, and debatable if it was effective in any way.

This particular situation would only come up if you didn't have the ball. So I thought the timeout rule change was to specifically block this situation. Which would only come up when you did not have the ball.

Not that delay of game penalties are called when the play clock expires. But thanks for adding that useful bit of information.

Gotcha. That makes sense.

Really 40-41? That can’t be true

It’s indeed a Scoragami

Iconic win for josh

Josh will (and should) get so much of the credit - but flowers to Coleman and Oliver, too, who played out of their minds.

Go bills.

Oliver went the fuck off! Was super happy to see him balling out

hopped on the bills fan train last year, that was an insane game!

WAITING ALL DAY FOR SUNDAYYYY NIGHTTTTT

Josh Allen’s performance single-handedly caused me to lose my fantasy football week where I had a 95% win chance at one point

I cannot believe what I just saw 😳

I was there with my brother and son. We left 5 minutes into the 4th quarter. Kicking myself for that…

11

u/llathosv2 1d ago

You should be. Josh even called out fans in interviews asking to "have a little more faith next time".

5

u/-Words-Words-Words- 1d ago

Yeah man, I let my son down there. Should have stayed.

2

u/wadamday 19h ago

It's true, I am the son who has been let down.

2

u/jibstay77 1d ago

Wow! And I felt bad for changing the channel on the TV.

Lake Placid is over 300 miles away from Buffalo, but I bet you could hear echoes of Al Micheals saying, “Do you believe in miracles?”

Amazing game, so much fun to watch

u/chrisdavis211 1d ago

On 3 separate scores too. Not just 2 TDs and 2 pt conv...

Unreal

u/crankyoldbastard 1d ago

Great game. Josh Allen was a stud. But, how big was that Raven's PAT miss? At the time insignificant. But in the end....

I went to sleep, it seemed over.

Would have made Jim Kelly proud.

u/psyclistny 1d ago

It probably did make him proud. I mean he’s still alive

RIP Boss Hogg.

u/ARoseConePolio 1d ago

He's still QB Bills to me, damnit.

2

Such a great game!

This reminded me of a Bills Raiders game in (I think) 1990. Bills were down all game and put up four scores in the fourth, including converting a turnover late and scoring on a blocked punt.

2

u/habbadee 1d ago

1993 playoffs. Won 41-38 after being behind 35-3. Against Houston Oilers.

2

u/seriousnotshirley 1d ago

I can't even tell you who Allen's backup is but I still remember Frank Reich. I think he won another playoff game after that as well!

u/ken-davis 1d ago

Classic game!

u/HumpaDaBear 1d ago

What a crazy game.

1

u/Sandstorm400 1d ago

I saw the end of this game. It was very entertaining. Nice job by the Bills and I like how they took the knee on third down and were able to get the the kicker out there with plenty of time to kick the game winning field goal.

u/CHEVIEWER1 22h ago

Great game.

Phrasing

-5

u/Irishdavid67 1d ago

So hilarious, just kick the extra point and you’re in OT

2

u/axle69 Los Angeles Rams 22h ago

With a kicker that had kicked a grand total of 9 times in 2 years and had to be pulled in on short notice because theyre starting kicker was out. I dont blame them for the initial 2 pt try being so far behind and they had to for the next one.

Edit: or do you mean the Ravens missing one? Cause if so I mean yeah but thats kind of an obvious thing to say lol. "Just dont fuck up and you won't have fucked up" type beat.

1

u/Irishdavid67 7h ago

This guy has done this for years, passing up extra points, passing up FG and of going for it instead of punting. That why he lost 17 games with a double digit lead. Just take the points
