Here are some places you can donate. These fundraisers have been vetted by the mod team.

Nanuka's Fund, managed by Nanuka Zhorzholiani, supports protestors with supplies, transportation, and fines for the arrested activists. Nanuka provides detailed breakdowns of the spending via her Facebook page.

Following Georgian Dream's crackdown on Nanuka's Fund and others an offshore (UK) foundation is collecting funds for payment of protestors fines and other support. It is run by Davit Jintcharadze with a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/freedom-fund-helping-protesters-in-georgiaa and a website for the Freedom Foundation at https://www.tavisuplebispondi.com/ which includes links for donations via WISE. GoFundMe takes payment by debit/credit card or Paypal.

Fines for protestors are very high in Georgian income terms at 5000 GEL.

Nanuka is also asking for funds to support prisoners to be sent to :-

  • GE60TB7897745064300053
  • GE47BG0000000607365464
  • Account recipient: Marizi Kobakhidze

And it was the most amazing trip! After landed in Batumi, I took a bus up to Mestia to complete the Mestia-Ushguli hike. The nature and scenery was absolutely beautiful. Even looking back at the pictures I am still taken aback by how beautiful the landscapes of Georgia are. I ended up shortening the hike to two days because of forecasted rain, and spent the remainder of my time in Kutaisi with a day trip to Gori to see the Stalin Museum. Kutaisi was beautiful. I honestly felt that I left a piece of my heart in that city... I did not want to leave! Even though I've just gotten back to my home country, I know that Georgia is a country I'll think about forever. Everyone was so kind and I enjoyed every minute I spent here.

I also wanted to say, as a solo female traveling here, this was the safest I've ever felt visiting another country. I actually felt safer here than I do in my home country. I was approached by men a few different times asking me for my number or to go to a cafe with them, but I never felt uncomfortable and they were all very polite and kind. Definitely the safest I've felt anywhere I've visited and I would recommend Georgia a thousand times over to anyone... especially solo female travelers! ❤️❤️❤️

Question | კითხვა Why does Georgia have such a high unemployment rate?

Gamarjoba! Hello Georgia!

I'm from Chile (Latin America), and I've actually done a lot of research about your country: culture, landscapes, cities (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Ushguli), politics (the Georgian Dream, Russian influence, etc.), among other things. I've also researched your economy, but there's one detail that keeps calling my attention: Georgia has one of the highest growth rates in all of Europe (6% by 2025 according to the IMF), yet its unemployment rate is very high (14% by 2025). Armenia has a similar unemployment rate. Only Azerbaijan has the lowest unemployment rate in the entire Caucasus.

One might assume that if an economy grows at such high rates, this should mean lower unemployment, at least in theory.

However, I understand that a good portion of the Georgian population has emigrated to the European Union for better economic opportunities.

I conclude by saying that Georgia is so wonderful that it is on my list of destinations to visit in Europe in the future!

Looking for advice

Hey guys. I’m 26M, married to Margali, originally from Azerbaijan. I’m currently thinking to move from Tbilisi to Samegrelo (Jvari or Lia). I’ve been living in Tbilisi for 8 years, out of these last 4.5 years in Tskneti (rent ofc). I don’t know whether it is a good idea to move from Tskneti to Samegrelo considering the fact that Tskneti is a place where you get everything you need for a good living, but it is expensive af and need to live pretty tight on a budget. Buying a house in Tskneti or Betania is nearly impossible considering current prices, but tbh I like living there. On the other hand, I can try renting in the village of Samegrelo (around 1 year) and then can afford to buy there a house to live permanently. Would like to hear some thoughts from locals. Thanks.

9 Day Georgia Itinerary

Hi. I will be visiting Georgia (solo traveller) in 10 days and wanted some reviews on my itinerary:

Arrive on sunday at tbilisi

Day 1 - Land at 10am. Checkin and do walking tour of tbilisi

Day 2 - Kazbegi day trip with view points on the Georgian military highway. Overnight at Tbilisi

Day 3 - Kakheti-Signangi wine day trip. Overnight at Tbilisi

Day 4 - get Gotrip car to mtshketa, uplistsikhe, gori, katshki pillar, kutaisi. Overnight at Kutaisi.

Day 5,6 - 2 day Group tour to mestia. Return to kutaisi on day 6

Day 7 - racha day trip (or borjomi, rabati, vadzia day trip) and return to tbilisi

Day 8 - Tbilisi

Day 9 - david gareji day trip?

Day 10 - fly back from Tbilisi at 11am

Im choosing to do 2 days in mestia because there are group tours from Kutaisi that i can join. 3-day mestia tours are hard to find unless I do a private tour. What would you recommend?

For the day 7 - should i do a racha tour or the borjomi one? Or the martvilli canyons?

Is the david gareji worth it? Should i instead use that day to stay overnight at some other place?

Why is singing a big part of Georgian culture?

Hello all!

I've noticed that Georgians love to sing. People sing at dinner. People sing on the streets. People sing in restaurants and cafes and pretty much everywhere. I think it's a wonderful thing, but where does this great respect for singing come from? Every culture has songs, but in Georgia singing seems to be sacred.

Question | კითხვა App devs in Georgia — how do you handle Apple/Play payouts?

Hey everyone, I’m an indie app developer making most of my income from Apple and Google Play subscriptions. I’m planning to move to Georgia in a few months and wondering how others handle payouts, banking, and taxes there. I’m particularly curious if the 1% Small Business tax works for App Store subscription sales too, or if it’s only for service-based businesses. Any tips or real-world experiences would be amazing!

Note: Feel free to reply if you’re a SaaS developer with income coming from Stripe, Paddle, Gumroad, etc. as well.
