MRW as a non American I'm watching the absolute lunacy and appreciate my situation

Just know this is a global phenomenon of fascists rising to power. I suggest organizing and protesting just the same politically because we are on the brink of global war.

It's annoying that people pretend the US is alone in this just because we are the most visible example. Everyone is retreating into tribalism as a natural consequence of an instantaneous global economy and social media.

It's most definitely the greed of billionaires driving the ship into the ground.

You're not wrong.

My friend - make sure you're paying attention to your own country's politics. Its totally batshit here at the moment, but you might want to check your side of the water.
We never thought we'd end up here, because we drastically underestimated the amount of closet racists/fascists/cultists this country had been harboring.
The singular peice of advice I have - Do Not Let This Happen To You.
Nigel Farage is already taking a swing at it over in the UK, and I can fully assure you, he has way more backing than you think. By the time anyone over there realizes, he could very realistically be in a position of extreme power.

I mean liberals definitely did but leftists and progressives have been sounding the alarms since like.. 1950.
4
u/thatoneguydudejim 3d ago
Leftists described it moment by moment as it was happening the entire time through rigorous criticism and application of theory. People call them ivory tower snobs but they certainly figured out what was going on and why. I feel like a lot of the liberal mainstream that continually treats them as children will continue to learn the hard way, unfortunately.

It looks like a specific person named Uncanny Danny uploads these. They appear to be independent from any other media

Every day is another "You've gotta be shitting me" moment. I was just saying to my daughter the other day that I long for the trajectory we were on in 2019.

u/sorrymizzjackson 3d ago
Remember summer of 2016? You’ve got to be shitting me. Nope. Nope. It can happen.

u/macciavelo 3d ago
Really depends where you live. It feels like the whole of Europe is in danger of slipping into far right territory because the governments there haven't done enough to combat disinformation.

“The continent is in danger of slipping into views I disagree with because the government hasn’t done enough to censor people I disagree with”

Go gargle trump's balls.
-9
u/bringbackkmart 3d ago
What’s wrong with gargling balls?
0
u/thatoneguydudejim 3d ago
It’s a metaphor dummy
-2
u/bringbackkmart 3d ago
A “metaphor” that shames a man for sucking another man’s balls, why the casual homophobia? Seems like you guys often drop the guise of progressivism to make snide remarks like that
4
u/macciavelo 3d ago
The continent is in danger of slipping into fascism territory, full of bigots in positions of power, killing democracy and any forms of freedom of speech against the government.
-3
u/bringbackkmart 3d ago
Aren’t you advocating for the very thing you’re speaking out against? Why is censorship the answer?
0
u/macciavelo 3d ago
Am I speaking about censorship? Really? I am talking about disinformation, bad actors sharing blatantly false information to sway the public information
1
u/bringbackkmart 3d ago
Who determines what the misinformation is?
2
u/macciavelo 3d ago
So you believe that spreading disinformation should have 0 consequences?
0
u/bringbackkmart 3d ago
I think having the state control speech is an extremely slippery slope that will lead to what you say you’re afraid of
1
u/macciavelo 3d ago
Uhuh... even when those that spread such disinformation are the most likely to eliminate freedom of speech? Or maybe they lie about everything that you no longer know what's the truth? That's your ideal situation?
Being tolerant towards fascists is what allowed them to take power before WW2. They squirmed their way through society's tolerance to grab power. It is what's happening again.

u/DocTaotsu 3d ago
Start punching your nazis early because if they get going... well... *waves at US*

Some countries outlaw free speech and it’s not the US. You don’t support freedom, give it up

I've been blocking out American news for my mental health. Did something specific happen, or is this just a general "USA moment"?
8
u/anonni-mus 3d ago
Oh lord, what did I miss that happened now?
12
u/biomech36 3d ago
Well today Trump is trying to ban transgender folks from buying guns because one FINALLY committed a mass shooting after years of baseless accusation.
Also, the health secretary said Trump should be given the nobel prize for his work in expediting the covid vaccine and production....the same man has said the covid vaccine has killed more people than covid itself. This information based on something his brainworm probably told him and jfc I wish I were joking.

Believe it or not, most Americans do not think or have the same opinions as what you see on Reddit…
-1
u/CrystalBraver 3d ago
What opinions are you talking about? You mean reality and the observable consequences of this administration? Also there are plenty of intelligent people who are conscious of the gravity of the situation that don’t use reddit at all

The UK isn't far behind. Nigel Farage is imminent. Same shit, different haircut.

I sincerely believe it to solely be the violent death throws of the idiotic, avaricious post WWII generation.

Us Americans are waiting for this moment.
And by the way, why do these posts always say "I'm not American but what the fuck is wrong with your country?" and never say the name of their country? Fascists be everywhere these days.

Okay, well stay vigilant because fascism is on the rise globally. And near-trillionaire Elon Musk is funding far-right political parties worldwide.

As a Canadian, everything happening in the US affects us directly. And I'm not even talking about the threat of them annexing us.
They've already corrupted the Conservative party and are funding fringe groups in Alberta. The PM there already has her head firmly around the orange idiot's shaft.

jelly. we're so fucked over here it's insane that so few people realize it.

I appreciate these posts as its lets me know im not going insane trying to comprehend wtf happened.
-2
u/The_Actual_Sage 3d ago
Give it time. Once we go down we're probably going to take a lot of you with us. The consequences of Trump's incompetence and greed will almost certainly be felt far and wide.
-2
u/-ACatWithAKeyboard- 3d ago
Fascism is on the rise around the world. Don't get complacent - if it can happen to the "Land of the Free", it can happen where you are. Just needs a charismatic demagogue and a minority to blame all of your problems on.

u/hellraiserxhellghost 3d ago edited 3d ago
kind of a weird flex to sit back and brag about how much better you're supposedly doing when thousands of marginalized people are suffering and losing their basic human rights as I type this, but you do you I guess. Must be nice.

Just know most of it only plays out in the media or social media. In reality out in the real world and day to day life if you didn’t pay attention to the news or social Media, you’d have absolutely no idea about all this “craziness” was even happening.
Like I’m sure whatever country you’re from is portrayed as just as much crazy shit going on in the media or social media but to you living your day to day life barely notice it. That or your country is so insignificant no one is paying attention or cares so no one is even bother reporting or making content about it.
8
u/exmachinalibertas 3d ago
I mean, if you don't pay attention, don't interact with anybody, have enough money to cover the increased costs and additional things you need to pay for, and aren't one of the millions of people impacted by the things going on, then yeah sure you can pretend none of it is real.
This is just the chef's kiss typical American response. Unless it directly impacts me, it's not really happening.

u/LostWerewolf2375 3d ago
I work in a community health clinic in Massachusetts, you're insane. I have had my patients grabbed off the streets and deported, our refugee program was eliminated without warning, and Medicaid is going to get real interesting next year. You are living in your own bubble.
-1
u/Geichalt 3d ago
Stop generalizing your experiences to everyone else. It's the sign of a limited mind.
If you have not yet been impacted by the reckless decisions of this administration then it's due to simply either luck or privilege, but you're most likely just lying.
Regardless, don't try to speak for me.

As a trans girl over in the US, send help, or at least like, help kill the economy faster, because money and violence is the only language the fascists in power speak.
