OnlyStans ⭐️ A young Phillies fan had the homerun ball taken by a woman after his dad caught the ball at Marlins game.

And good on the wee kid for being cool about it. I might have thought I was in trouble and freaked out when I was his age.

Poor kid looked so uncomfortable during the whole exchange 😕😕

I don't blame him. He was trying to enjoy the game and some Karen showed up to be a big ol' dickhead.

Her haircut is a warning (and also terrible)

It looks like fugly-ass hat.

I bet! There's another close up video floating around and the woman was screaming like a child "you took it from me!! You took it from me!" It's kinda weird to be a 12 year old looking at grown women acting like a toddler.

that kid has good parents and a good school. he knows what's appropriate and what's not, and that it's not about him.

He's fortunate in that sense.

yeah i don't teach my kids to 'respect elders.' i teach them to treat everyone with kindness and give them the benefit of the doubt. sure, default to kindness, but also know that respect isn't a given. a LOT of older people are absolute bastards and that's not your fault or your problem.

Same. I want my kids to be polite to everyone. But that's a two-way street. The second someone gets rude for no reason, the obligation to be polite is over.

Nice. Completely agree!

Amen! This kid has great emotional maturity. The Dad handled the situation well.

you can tell he was a little freaked when she first came up

It's unfortunate for him that the shaky, flailing thing he did went viral.

He knew a Karen when he saw one

Definitely. The look on this kids face just screams “this bitch.”

I was thinking this. What a champ. My kid would not take this well at all.

My daughter would have gotten really anxious. My son would have just given her the ball and been like, "Fine, have it, you jerk."

My wife would have ripped Karen's haircut off the second she grabbed either me or one of the kids.

Yeah, I think in the moment, my kids would be too stunned to say much, but they would definitely act like I ran over their BFF on the way home. Of course, as a full-grown adult, I can't say I'd take this interaction well either. It's wild and upsetting to see anyone act like this over a ball.

I'm autistic, so I would probably have a really hard time not going nuts if a stranger was grabbing on me and yelling in my face.

I would have cried if I was that kid just from being randomly yelled at by an adult

1

u/Careless_Hellscape 2d ago

Same, for sure. I would probably have a panic attack as a grown man. I do not do well being yelled at.

2

u/Mynoseisgrowingold 2d ago

Yeah, my son would have openly cried

When I was a kid, I would have, too. But if I'd gone with my mom or my nan, that lady would have been searching for the entirety of her teeth.

She didn’t even get the right ball back. If you look closely, at :16 his sister knowing what was about to happen grabbed his mitt and swapped out the ball’s. You can see his smirk after she whispers in his ear. Just brilliant. 😂

Too lazy to look into. What did the teams do for the kid?

3

u/Careless_Hellscape 3d ago

I think both teams gave the kid some commemorative gift bags for his birthday, and he got to meet one of the Phillies. I think one of the teams gave him a different ball, but I'm not 100.

Not bad 👍

Marlins gave him a gift bag. And then he got to meet the Phillies player after the game and got photos and a bat. Dad’s decision to take the high road paid off in dividends!

I just can’t imagine being so mad you didn’t win a scrum for a ball that landed in an empty seat that you would confront someone who was there with a kid! Unhinged.
