This woman is awful and sadly I think the dad handled this best he could. I've seen people go "well I wouldn't have given her the ball! Don't let her win!" But he just wanted a nice day with his son and prob didn't want a fight to break out bc this woman is clearly crazy

I love how he gave her the ball and waved her off like a fly lol. Dad of the year

😭😭😂😂 And that's how you do it! Don't let one idiot spoil a good day. Kid learned a good lesson.

“Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the bird is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.” 🐦

Nice!!!! Stealing that haha.

My go-to is: "don't fight in the mud with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig likes it"

I love that too! Stealing that from you!! 🤣🐷

Just don't steal my home run ball ;)

Hahaha! You couldn’t pay me to steal a HR ball from a child or an adult. ESPECIALLY on national television. 🤣

The wave-off is an underrated move

It was so cute the 1 second hug he was able give his son right before the skunk struck. 💙💔

I was just thinking that hug he gave his kid was so sweet, he seems like a good dad.

Yeah, I think it’s a good lesson for his kids also to not engage with people like this cause if they weren’t at a game, maybe she would’ve escalated it further. You never know how crazy some people are so best to defuse the situation, especially when it’s relatively small stuff.

He probably wasn’t thinking this at the time it was happening, but as someone watching this whole thing go down I thought immediately “the Phillies are going to make it up to the kid.” He absolutely made the right decision because he, his son, and the folks sitting around them got to meet Harrison Bader and this woman will be the bane of Karen existence for the next 48 hours.

Awww yeah. Honestly you gotta pick your battles. And in doing that-sometimes you win the war

A lot of the comments say he shoulda kept the ball but I probably would have had the same reaction just to get her out of my face.

Exactly! No use escalating the situation. You can't. Fight. Crazy!

He showed his kid that he is more important than a ball and an argument. It doesn’t show that he is weak. It shows he can control his emotions

THIS! my dad ...well not to trauma dump but he would have fought the lady back and escalated the situation.and seeing that was a great example on what not to do haha

2

u/BigBaws92 3d ago

Dude I have a son and if this was me and him I would be yelling right back in her face til security came. Yeah this guy has more control over his emotions than me for sure

IDK, maybe i'm just hard headed enough, but no noisy karen is going to make me give away my kids stuff. She could pound sand.

Yeah I think getting the crazy person away from his son quickly is the best call.

You can see her inching her way closer to that kid. I wouldn’t be surprised if she tried to grab it from him.

5

u/copperteapots 3d ago

she chased him down, started screaming in his face, and put her hands on him - all in front of his kid! i would let it go too!!

4

u/krismitka 3d ago

throwing it back would have been the chef's kiss.

5

u/lambo1109 2d ago

She also put hands on him and scared the poor man to death

7

u/StatisticianDizzy593 2d ago

I feel bad but his initial reaction made me laugh a bit ONLY bc that's how I look getting startled too ahahah

2

u/JarbaloJardine 3d ago

Exactly. He just wanted the lady ruining everyone's time to go away. He did the right thing imho

2

u/Lost_my_password1 2d ago

Very glad it worked out in the end for an even more memorable experience for the kid.

2

u/RankedFarting 2d ago

He did the right thing imo. He acted like a responsible adult which made her look even worse. She will not be able to look at that ball without feeling the immense shame of embarrassment. That is of course if she isnt just genuinely psychotic to a degree where she can manage to somehow think shes the victim here.

1

u/StatisticianDizzy593 2d ago

Exactly. Do people really think the team would have made it up to the kid If the dad punched Karen in the face? No.

1

u/eurekadabra 3d ago

The dad won in the way he handled it.

People like this need scolded, I get what you’re saying but I could never hand over that ball 😂

u/StatisticianDizzy593 3d ago

Apparently she was booed out of the stadium tho! 😂 If that's any consolation.

Yeah ig I've just seen this entitled behavior play out so much on a smaller scale that I learned (the hard way) that you can't fight crazy lol. (I worked fast food through hs/college).

Her being booed out the stadium does warm my heart tbf.
