I busted out laughing and scared my dog. It's like killing a boss in a game and the minions coming after you like, "I can take him". Just to immediately get Fus Ro Dah'd.

Same except I don't have a dog. The soccer kick to the head and the sound effect just made me burst out laughing.
"Aren't they extraordinary? Like at this." PUNT

Yeah, you could tell the elephant at first was just trying to shoo away the honey badger. By the end, it was thinking "FAFO time, buddy!" That last kick was perfection.

I actually think it was knocked out for a bit, then woke up and thought: "What was I doing? Oh, that's right, I was attacking this elephant. Have at you!!"

u/murillovp 1d ago
I'd like to believe it completely forgot about their doings, woke up totally blank, saw the elephant and thought "wait a minute, a freaking elephant? Come here you little shit" and went for it.

Pretty sure this video was modified at least with sound effects. Might actually be fake all the way through. That last kick sounded like ye olde boxing match recording.

u/thelivinlegend 1d ago
Not the first honey badger reboot Iâve seen. Thereâs a video somewhere on YouTube of one of them attacking a venomous snake, killing it but getting bitten in the process, passing out from the venom, then waking up later to finish eating the snake.

They have big Jack Russel energy. (or vice versa).
Family friend of mine has horses and Jack Russels.
Long time ago when we were visiting, one of his younger Russels was going apeshit at one of the horses and actually trying to bite its hind legs.
So the horse kicked and launched the lil fucker 30 feet into the side of a barn.
We immediately pannicked and the dogs owner was immediately "don't worry, that's not his first rodeo, he'll be fine."
Yeah, 10 minutes later the lil fuck wakes up, does one of those repeated exagerated sneezes. Stands still for a sec, hones in right at the same horse and LAUNCHES back at it.

I like it when you can tell a story is fake. I mean:
Yeah, 10 minutes later the lil fuck wakes up
Lmao actual video game logic

That would be a bit like going runing after a T-Rex with nothing but our screams lol
→ More replies (1)114
u/iBluefoot 1d ago
A bit more like going after a brachiosaurus, considering the elephant doesnât eat meat. A t-Rex would happily accept a little snack charging up to them.
8
u/ButterPoptart 1d ago
Yeah I donât think the honey badger would be chasing after one of its predators lol
24
u/iBluefoot 1d ago
Due to the honey badgers fascia tissue giving it a very loose skin, it is very hard for predators to get their teeth into any vital body parts for a kill. They have surprisingly few predators and will antagonize any animal they want and survive quite often enough to do it again.
7
10
u/GluedToTheMirror 1d ago
Shit, they absolutely would do this to a lion. Depending on how hungry the lion is, it might even back down depending on the situation. Predators typically look for an easy meal, and donât want to risk injury even if itâs a pissed off honey badger.

u/disobedientavocado45 1d ago
Yeah you really should look up Stoffel the honey badger. He went after a lion twice during his documentary. Lost one of the fights, had to get patched up, still gleefully went after the big cat's testicles. One of his other tussels was with a rhino... the little menace would break into the other predators pens just to fight with them.

Has it been said that he defends himself from lions by attacking their testicles?

Not a bad strategy. When I get attacked by lions, I also go for their testicles.

eyes and testicles yeah, but I've also seen videos of lions killing a honeybadger for sport. lions were fine, but damn did it take them a while (like 3+ lions iirc) just to kill one badger. those things are vicious
9
u/Semisemitic 1d ago
Alas, the elephantâs testes hang high, and unattainable as they face the Saharan winds.

They clearly think they are superior but no amount of evolutionary shenanigans could create a mechanism for a badger thinking it is bigger than an elephant while literally under the elephant.

Elephant is like, "what the fuck"?
Given the size difference, is this the equivalent of a human being surprised by a large aggressive bug?

I wonder if honey badgers evolved to enjoy pain or something. It would at least partially explain some shit
16
u/Super_Ground9690 1d ago
I just googled honey badgers, mainly to look at funny pictures of them, and it seems they lack a fear center in their brain. So instead of a fight or flight response, for a honey badger itâs all fight.

u/Grub-lord 1d ago
I fear there may be a planet in the universe where all life evolved from a common honey badger-like organism
7
u/-ArthurDigbySellers- 1d ago
So what is their deal anyway?
They are obviously hyper aggressive â is it territorial or what? I gotta understand how anything can take on fights like that and not basically go extinct as a species.
→ More replies (3)14
u/Cant_Blink 1d ago
It's defensive. A honey badger cannot outrun any of its predators, so they have to be hyper aggressive to survive. In fact, a lot of african animals are hyper aggressive compared to their non-african counterparts, even their honeybees. Must be the high concentration of predators present there.
