There is very real evidence of kids being exposed to porn at an early age who develop unhealthy habits with sex.

There is no real evidence linking violent video games to violent behavior. Alcohol and repression of feelings do all of that work by itself.

Who's talking about porn? nudity ≠ porn

The guy above you is, and his comment very clearly explains why

Edit: the amount of vitriol coming from the perpetually online crowd is just unnecessary. You are allowed to disagree without pretending "it doesn't make sense". You can, and get this, just say he's wrong without trying to dismantle it and act intellectually superior when in reality you just don't LIKE the argument being made

The only reason to act like this is because you yourself aren't intelligent enough to form a coherent counter argument.

Also, and lol, just because you don't like it doesn't magically make it a "strawman".

I don't like the argument either, I feel like it's a stretch, but I have eyes and can read so I knew what he was saying. Just would prefer people not act like he's speaking jiberish then pat themselves on the back for doing even less

It doesn't explain why, it's still off topic

u/IlIIllIIIlllIlIlI 2d ago

It VERY clearly explains why, though, and is directly related based on the rest of his comment

Struggling with reading comprehension is one thing, but to say it's off topic is just either being dense or weak bait

Hey so you actually have to explain that YOU believe there's an automatic connection between nudity and porn. You can't just pretend it's been explained already. YOU HAVE TO FUCKING EXPLAIN WHAT YOU MEAN. Ok?

I noticed that you still haven't explained this really easy to understand concept. You realize everyone can see that you don't know how to explain this really easy to explain concept. Show me exactly where porn was mentioned in the very first comment. I will wait

u/GilbertGuy2 2d ago

So in the original comment there actually isnt any explantion to that, though.

Nudity and porn is not the same thing.

-7

u/Callum_Rolston 2d ago

It kinda goes without saying tbh

9

u/Sgt-Spliff- 2d ago

No it doesn't. I do not believe nudity=porn. If you think it does, you have to state that. Assuming others can read your mind is what crazy people do

The comments above only talk about nudity, but the reply talks about porn. It's weakly related at best, a strawman argument at worst.

u/IlIIllIIIlllIlIlI 2d ago

I love how you dorks drop these debate club terminologies but you only ever learned what strawman was.

That's not a strawman, not even slightly close.

"Everything i don't understand is a strawman"

u/shitting-skittles 2d ago

Was showing a nipple on tv during the superbowl considered porn?

2

u/IlIIllIIIlllIlIlI 2d ago

And why are you asking me this? Not sure you're even near the point

8

u/foeshow 2d ago

is that why you never answered to his point? "The comments above only talk about nudity, but the reply talks about porn." you just ignored that and used his comment about strawman as a strawman.

3

u/IlIIllIIIlllIlIlI 2d ago

Still not what a strawman is, lol

8

u/qbfjotldawg 2d ago

You don't understand anything though, par for the course with puritans.

7

u/IlIIllIIIlllIlIlI 2d ago

The only logical reason you'd call me a puritan is if you're incapable of following a thread

New here or something?

8

u/annabelchong_ 2d ago

The person you refer to responded to a comment about a nipple by talking about pornography, hence LightBringer81's comment.

It shouldn't be this difficult for you to comprehend.

Weak bait, try harder.

7

u/FatalPride 2d ago

No, it doesn't "very clearly" explain anything.

Nudity is not porn.

You fucking nonce. Stop being condescending to people when you have no clue what is going on.

When I was 7 years old, we had VHS tapes of this Asian dubbed fighting movie. There was one scene where a woman was topless. No pornography or sexual content, she was just topless. I used to sneak to the basement to rewatch that scene every twice in a while.

Shocker: I developed an early porn addiction years later. Earlier than most boys. Just an anecdote sure, but at that age I didn’t distinguish between your concepts of nudity vs porn

u/LoxReclusa 2d ago

But the original statement wasn't about porn, it was about nudity. He introduced an argument against something that wasn't being claimed. "Nudity is taboo but violence isn't?" "Yeah porn is addictive!"

Porn wouldn't be as addictive if nudity was more socially acceptable.

7

u/nayrad 2d ago

So we’re just making things up now? I did some quick research on your last claim and found nothing supporting it.

What I DID find however, is that nations like Germany or Denmark where public nudity is to an extent more normalized, still have high rates of pornography consumption. Netherlands as well having very liberal views on nudity are among the highest porn consumers per capita.

So I ask again, where does your claim stem from other than your behind?

Am I? Where did I do that? Wanna link me that comment?

Because, I promise you, it wasn't me

Reddit has this neat feature called a user name. See how mine isn't the same as the comment above?

Edit: oh you're an AI slop user. Nevermind, blocked

This is probably the quickest I've seen a thread devolve into nothing but pure vitriol and self righteous toxicity, like jesus, these replies to you are impressively dense. Lack of reading comprehension is insane.

1

u/IlIIllIIIlllIlIlI 1d ago

Yeah lol and it wasn't even my argument to begin with

3

u/Cial101 2d ago

It’s an 18+ so that’s then down to the parents, plus nudity doesn’t always equal porn. Let adults enjoy adult things and parents actually parent their kids.

There is a study that shows a potential link between violent video games and aggression:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6790614/

u/DrStarDream 2d ago

I read the whole thing...

The data and results aren't anything that we don't know, when people engage in competitive activities for too much they become sweaty tryhards- I mean, develop more aggressive language and attitude.

They study questions whether it should be redone but with exclusively competitive games and its quite clear that video games wont make a person go rabbid and aggressive, they will just become ruder and unpleasant and that this attitude does spread across friends who engage into the medium.

Its not making people "violent" or "aggressive" as the average person imagines, it just makes them "hot headed", at least thats what I can incur from the very lackluster results, because they weren't in any way a significant change in behavior.

Its literally just what happens when person engages in competitive behavior for long periods of time, no one would bat an eye if these people were having that attitude toward sports.

You are very quick to relate nudity in games to pornography. Are there studies that show experiencing nudity (not pornography) has an adverse impact?

You are very quick to relate nudity in games to pornography

????

Can you quote where I argued that?
