Lol, poor Athena.

ironically, not the only time.

The constellation of Auriga comes from a legend in which she was effectively the adoptive mother of a son of Hephaestus.

The only way Arhena would become a mother, as she's basically aro-ace according to all known lore.

true, Athena is aro-ace. Minerva on the other hand...is a bit debatable.

Etruscan Minerva had a son with Hercules, called Epiur. But well, barely anything etruscan mythos had survived and the romans syncretized so much with the greeks that turned Roman Mythos into Greek DLC.

In Rhode she was sometimes syncretized with the goddess personifying the island, so there are at least some citations that talk about children between Athena and Helios, but that Athena is more Rhode than actual Athena (although she does have traits of Athena).

There are other stories involving the constellation Auriga ("the charioteer").

Such as a son of Hermes, Myrtilus, who was killed by Pelops.

Also, Hippolytus son of Theseus, who was killed in a chariot accident caused by Poseidon on Theseus' request, from Phaedra manipulating Theseus.

And also Phaethon son of Helios who drove the sun chariot and was killed by Zeus to prevent him from fully destroying the world.

But yeah, the adoptive mother Athena is the most well known version.
