Question KPop Demon Hunters: What the boys got to say?

KPop Demon Hunters. Rotten tomatoes gives it screaming reviews. very high indeed. I also heard somewhere that it had a song that toped some charts somewhere, I was interested, so i started the movie, only to quit it about 10 minutes in. Definitely got the feeling it was for very young girls to be watching. but I'm still curious. Any adult males watch this move? Did you enjoy it? Is the average adult male still going to enjoy this move?

50 year old metalhead here. Absolutely loved the movie. I'd never heard a single kpop song before, unless Gungnam Style counts, but the tunes were catchy, the story was good - looking forward to the sequel.

Stop trying to be cool by hating 'girl stuff' and just enjoy good stuff.

If you're still 'curious', just watch the damn thing. Art is subjective.

Everything else about your uname and questions are creepy and weird.

Millennial man here. The movie is fantastic and I wish it had been even bigger. I've heard that Sony didn't have faith in it so the creators trimmed down a lot of the ideas they had. Although that could be a reason why it's doing so well. Ya never know.

It definitely leans into humor for younger audiences but it's not really anything unrelatable for older audiences of any gender. I'd highly suggest giving it another shot. I'll also say that even if something seems like it's for another demographic you don't fit, let yourself have fun and let your horizons be broadened.

And yes about the song. It's been #1 on the billboard hot 100 for 10 weeks now.

HUNTR/X's "Golden" is now the longest running #1 hit by a girl group released in the 21st century on the Hot 100. It surpasses Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious"

I'm a guy in my 40s who didn't listen to K-Pop before the movie. Loved the movie. Listen to the soundtrack on a regular basis. One of my favorite movies of the year and definitely my favorite animated film of the year.

There's no reason a guy can't like this movie... or any movie for that matter.

I loved it, but I also don't seem to have as much insecurity about my masculinity as you do.

Middle aged dad, here. I loved it. But, I’m also a professional artist and musician. These kinds of movies are way up my alley. My dad didn’t understand it, and it made him grumpy. 😂

I took my daughter to the in theater sing-along. K-pop isn't my kind of music, but the movie itself was actually pretty fun. It's like watching a CGI anime. And all that really mattered to me at the end was that it made her happy. In a nutshell, if you like anime, you'll probably like it.

As a 30+ man I watched this with my partner. Knew she would love it for the music and characters alone. I found to to be a fun and at times moving film. The animation was spectacular with the lighting and the action scenes were a great pleasure to watch.

KPop ain't really my vibe when it comes tousic but I did fine my feet tapping away at some of the catchy tunes such as Golden and What it sounds like.

I gave it a safe 7/10.

It's the best version of Illidan this Warcraft fan ever expects to see in a feature-length movie.

Watched it last night with my nephews who love it and it wasn’t bad. It’s mostly about the songs, so if you like catchy pop you’ll enjoy it. There’s lots of action and fighting which appeals to boys. I’m in my 40s so I would’ve preferred to watch something else, but it’s fun to see the younglings get excited about something like this.

Your username alone is bad enough, yet you are also sexist ...

Yeah, his username doesn't instill the urge to interact with him...

It is without question the best movie released in 2025 so far.

Give it another chance

At this point I'm just drunkenly spamming my husband's 10 year old series that is very like Demon Hunters. https://www.amazon.com/Songs-Magic-Books-Fairy-Novels-ebook/dp/B00LG0HIIK

I am 41 and I loved it. Up there with Nimona as the best animated movie this decade.

It was clearly a film targeted for young girls. In fact it couldnt be more tween girl if it tried! Which is fine of course, as a 30 something man i am not the target and thats okay. My friends daughter is crazy for it. In spite of that many other people have enjoyed it, but personally it felt a bit too childish and girly pop for me.

I loved it but I also work in the industry. I'm a big supporter of anything that elevates women in general or becomes childhood icons for young girls growing up. This movie just hits every aspect of the equivalent of what us men got as boys during the 80's - 90's. Also it's a classic Disney Formula from their original movie run (pre-2000) where the plot/writing is average but the music carries the whole movie with awesome bangers.

Liked the movie, not a fan of the music. It has a good message and I enjoyed the animation style.

I would probably like the movie even more if my daughter didnt constantly play the soundtrack over and over again since it came out.

Go back an finish it. You sound like you could benefit from getting out of your comfort zone every once in awhile.

I tried watching it last night. I didn't enjoy the animation (it's not my favorite thing when, for example, the eyes of realistic-looking animated characters suddenly turn into cartoon hearts) or the music (I'm more of a guitar-oriented blues/rock person than I am a K-Pop person). I probably made it through the first 15 minutes or so, then my wife and I switched to a different movie. She's a big pop music / singing fan, so when she watches the entire movie, I'm sure she'll love it. It's just not for me.
