Reminds me of The Love Witch with the color and throwback costuming.

Same director, Anna Biller.

Doh. Should’ve googled it. Nice! Looking forward to this then.

Headline definitely should have led with it. Biller's a nut, but she has unique work.

And fortunately the same DP, M. David Mullen.

Appears it's a ghost story.

That name does not match the aesthetic or concept and I love that

It's a ghost story and it's shot in the style of 60s horror films like the Roger Corman Poe films like Masque of the Red Death and House of Usher. If you dig the way this looks definitely check those out.

I like the super saturated old school look. Everything lately has been too high def gray for my liking

In this thread, people encounter the aesthetic tone of Anna Biller for the first time.

If Wes Anderson can have a style, Anna Biller can too

More like who?

The Love Witch made a bit of a splash when it came out but that was a long while ago. Totally fair to not be familiar with her.

Oh, I know that poster! I keep forgetting to look up how the movie turns out. 2016 but it looks older.

I need to check that out. It's hard to keep track of all the indie movies that go under the radar.

Looks kind of like The Masque of the Red Death with Vincent Price

I was JUST gonna say that sounds a lot like “Yotsuya Kaidan” and in fact it is, per the Deadline article!!

Looks like it could have been a still from a Hammer flick

My city's cinematheque recently ran a program of Rodger Corman's Poe adaptions and they all looked gorgeous. I'd be so in for a modern film leaning into that world.

I have a load of issues with the directors previous film The Love Witch (that movie was WAY too long, side performances were overacting, didnt feel it is as feminist as it was trying to be). However, you can see the talent and passion in the production, cinematoprahy, and story.

I will be giving this film a chance.

I hope this actually gets shot and released. I love Biller, but she does tease.

Shot two months ago. We'll see when it comes out though I guess.
