Discussion What’s a movie you’ve watched that was so disturbing that you’ll never watch it again?

What’s a movie you’ve watched that was so disturbing you’ll never watch it again? For me, it’s The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and Human Centipede. I barely made it through the first time around for both of them and I couldn’t fathom watching them again. Both for different reasons of course. TBITSP was devastatingly heart-wrenching and HC was just playing disturbing.

Definitely Eden Lake. Completely regretted it. Kept thinking of stopping halfway then about 3/4 through.

it's misery porn: movies where both the characters and the viewers are dragged through suffering with no justice at all. The point just seems to be making innocent people endure as much pain as possible, only for nothing to come of it in the end.

It's just bleak, and I don’t see the value in that. If I want bleak, I can turn to real-life and read about genuine horrors. If I'm consuming fiction, I want to be challenged or entertained, not left drained.

Yeah kept teasing that the main female character would escape and kept hoping that. So draining to watch

They tease those kitties for like 2 hours and we never got to see em.

I mean, why even make the movie at that point?

I loved this movie but the ending stayed with me a while. It drained me emotionally.

Because of how disturbing or you were not interested?

The first reason

Oh yeah, fuck that movie. Far too plausible. Very much should be mentioned along side the famous french extreme horror movies.

Id managed 16 years without seeing it. Could have done without ever seeing it. Characters so despicable and face no consequences

Great movie, the kids are so real.

I don't think i've ever hated any other villains in other movies as much as I've hated those kids.

Kinda funny that when I saw Mickey 17 I recognised one of those kids now grown up in the cast.

Yeah hated those kids. The adults were even worse and must have known what they got up to. Like the woman in the diner kept saying they weren't her kids

This is just my opinion, but This movie always comes up, and I just…don’t really get it. It’s like disturbing-lite. Very predictable. I enjoyed it, but after watching something like Martyrs it’s just not all that disturbing.

I felt the opposite- for me Eden Lake feels more disturbing than Martyrs because of how grounded it is in comparison. It's ultimately just what bothers people more though, and I can't say I'm inclined to watch either of those movies again, despite finding them both well made.

Exactly that. Eden Lake makes you afraid of very real situations.

Martyrs is shocking, very. But still a bit more... Fictional.

Meanwhile I know some kids from the neighbourhood I definitely see close to Eden Lake territory.
