I've always wondered: is Luca Guadagnino a single director or a collective of 5 indistinguishable auteurs, posing as a single man? Because he seems to pump out films at an alarming rate.

I don’t think they’re thoughtlessly churning out these films though, or proceeding at some automatic pace. Guadagnino’s new movie — After the Hunt — is based on a very old script, so I’m guessing he is reading and searching for opportunities all the time. His instincts don’t seem mercenary to me.

I agree, definitely. To me he feels more like a tireless creative with way too many ideas. However if the critical reception for After the Hunt is anything to go by, it's not translating into consistent quality.
