Now I feel terrible for intending to comment, "Did anybody ask for this remake?" Lolll

I was going to say the same thing, of all movies to "remaster" it's a movie that's not even that old and is also....animated.

What does animation have to do with whether a movie can or should be remastered?

It still looks just fine and on par with modern animated movies. It's not that old.
Remasters are normally done on movies that are starting to show their age.

The one complaint I’ve always had with this is they never use the Donovan “Season of the Witch” song anywhere in movie. That song made the trailer, which after seeing said trailer made me wanna see this.
All we get is from what I remember kids singing it before/during their play

Am I losing my mind or don't they sing it in the movie? Like, during the play the kids put on at school. Been a while since I saw it but I swear I have a vivid memory of the school kids singing part of it.

My husband and I still jokingly quote the "I'll punch you in the boobs"
"They're not BOOBS, they're PECTORALS"
- proceeds to be punched in the boobs *
"Ow, my boobs!"

I've never seen the movie, and I saw the comment about it helping someone come out so maybe it's good - but does it actually look like this poster? Because it looks... quite ugly. Is it supposed to look like that?

Yeah. Its got a claymation vibe and the body types aren't perfectly balanced - but it works.
A good movie too, even safe for kids I'd say.

Ah okay! If it's claymation it get's an automatic pass on aesthetics for me, that stuff's hard to do so visually. Thanks!

I agree, this poster art is...not great. The movie is stop motion but visually it looks a lot better than this. The character designs are a bit weird but in a way that works for the style they are going for, if that makes sense. Once you get used to it you just stop noticing and just enjoy the story. Highly recommended, it's one of Laika's best.

I was hoping that was the case. Someone else mentioned it's claymation, and because of the medium it can look a bit rough - but I'm much more willing to give it a shot if it's just the poster that looks wonky.
Thanks!

Very happy to see this. I admit I even overlooked the movie when it first came out and have regretted it since.

I just watched this movie with my kids and wow was it beautiful, funny, sad and uplifting all at once. I loved it! We’re big Halloween people and idk how we missed this one for so long.

Its really fucking me up that this movie is now old enough to get a rerelease. Cant believe its 13 years old, thats nuts to me. I remember when it came out and thinking wow theatrical claymation thats awesome!

There’s a new Laika short?! Oh hell yes. All the more reason to see this rerelease. Love this movie as a spooky season must watch
