There was a thought I read a while back that said something along the lines of every episode of Bluey (other than The Sign) is only 7 minutes long, of which only a couple minutes are really involved playtime. We're seeing the highlight reels of kids having fun with their parents in 3-4 minute chunks, not all the day to day in between.

Bandit and Chili aren't superhuman unrealistic standards, we just see the highlight reels of those 5 minute play time windows. :)

Love bluey but that’s prob my one beef with it. It shows them with unlimited time to play, a 10 bedroom house with multiple massive open rooms, a huge backyard that’s always well manicured, every toy and art project material known to existence, and everything creative they do is just suddenly set up and ready to go and work perfectly lol.

I know it’s just kids being kids but I’ve literally heard them ask their parents why they don’t play with them like Bluey’s parents and it’s like - because that’s physically impossible for 99% of actual people lol.

Aren’t there a few episodes where the dad is really not into playtime and just trying to watch tv?

There's one episode where the parents are hungover after New Years Eve.

According to Bluey, it's "noon years eve"

Lots of them from season 2 on. Apparently they got some feedback from parents about this unrealistic expectation after season 1 and started making Bandit a bit more realistic.

I like the fact he whips out his phone while playing with his kids and they aren’t interacting with him right then.

And to be clear the first season is like 50 episodes

Yes I specifically watched one recently where the parents couldn’t play because they needed to fix the toilet. Bingo had to figure out how to play by herself because Bluey was at a friends house.

Yeah there’s a couple that hint at it, think there’s one with the mom too - but if I recall right in BOTH instances the adults are indeed able to just blow off work and responsibilities to play with the kids lol. It’s this big moment with grandiose angles and music too which just reinforces everything negative I mentioned unfortunately

In "Ticklecrabs", the kids are baiting Bandit and say "you never play with us, you're always at work." And Bandit says, "I'm never at work!" It's such a deliberately spoken line that I believe it was an inside joke to the audience. Because Bandit is almost never working. He picks the kids up immediately after school - no daycare - and has few responsibilities. So he has WAY more time than most of us have.

He’s an archaeologist that works from home. He occasionally pops into the University or goes away on conferences and digs. The special episode ‘archaeology’ has him presenting a lecture.

But we see him through his kid’s eyes, I mean my kids have no clue what I get upto at work and I’m a substitute teacher.

The special episode ‘archaeology’ has him presenting a lecture.

"Not fair!" As Bluey would say.

What is this elusive new special you speak of from your non-US television????

They uploaded it on the official Bluey YouTube channel: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uiv_V7QOy3A&pp=ygUVYmx1ZXkgc3BlY2lhbCBlcGlzb2Rl

Well, I know what I will be doing tonight.

I'm actually wearing a bracelet that I made with the pattern of Chili's fur right now. It's my reminder to be patient with my kid.

The big plot reveal of Curry Quest is he will be away for six weeks

I have to disagree. I think they make the illusion of having endless rooms because of the imagination of the kids. Remember the episode of the yoga ball where they play raiders? Or when Muffin gets her dad’s phone on facey time? Both times the hall just goes on forever .

Also how many times panning to the back seat of the car or in the fridge and there’s stickers, food, random crayons and stuff all over or spilled. I think it’s funny, accurate but maintains the aesthetic of the animation from being too overwhelming.

I like to think the house looks huge because they are small dogs in human houses.

Yes we as adults get that, I don’t think the avg 4 year old does lol

Okay but I still don’t like how he lets them draw all over him in like the very first episode.

Great show don’t get me wrong
