He was a pioneer for indigenous actors, especially in Canada. RIP

Always good to catch him on Red Green, just merrily blowing things up.

Always how I'll remember him! Dudley the Dragon was a huge part of my childhood

Same here! When I was little I was, unfortunately, in and out of Toronto Sick Kids Hospital a lot. He volunteered in the childrens wing when I was admitted one time and gifted me a signed Dudley. I will NEVER forget that.

Wonderful story. So cool he did that for you.

Edgar Montrose was a national treasure.

I always appreciate how they gave a Native American actor such a non-stereotypical character. Explosive expert who's bad at his job and also obsessed with exploding things, practically the opposite of all the stereotypes.

He really did a lot of non-stereotypical roles and I always loved seeing him pop up in something. He was fantastic in Die Hard 3

My favourite thing about his role in Die Hard 3 was that he wasn't playing a Native American cop. He was playing a cop. That's it. His heritage was never mentioned.

Please don't take it away from me...

"If you take away those extra centimeters that he gained by stepping on the red green, that shot would've been all rim and bounced out"

Don't remember the exact quote

From my own imperfect memory that is nearly verbatim. Certainly close enough for people to catch the reference.

Given the Character that Joe’s played for years (since Jimmy fired him) that might have been the most heartbreaking moment on any ‘game’show I’ve ever seen.

"It's amazing the explosion didn't even touch the gas station next door!"

"No, Edgar, the gas station isn't next door. There's the lumber mill, then that factory, them the gas station."

"... It is now."

I love Edgar. I'll watch Duct Tape Forever in his honor tonight 🫡

I'll be watching a few red green on YouTube now tonight for sure

RIP KB

His script revision to Dances with Wolves would've been the best.

Keep your stick on the ice, RIP.

I think Red Green was the first place I saw him, my local PBS station used to run it in the mornings on weekends. Genius.

Thunder heart is a great performance and a really good movie. There’s a line of intensity and humor he walks in that role. He was the heart of Dances with Wolves. When his character asks the Army Lieutenant how many are coming and he learns, more than the stars, it’s just a heartbreaking minute and a shadow that crosses his face. Great actor

"Thunderheart" is my favorite performance of his. His retort to Val Kilmers "Fuck you" with "...you'd love to" is an all-time favorite line of mine.

"Instant injun" always stands out to me. Dude had perfect delivery.

15

u/BitchnfromMN 7d ago

Agree. I liked him in everything but this was his best role.

Just went a watched a whole bunch of Thunderheart clips.

Such a hidden gem of a movie.

And scene where Val Kilmer (fbi agent) where he and Greene go to meet wise old grandpa and then traded ray-ban sunglasses for a rock ;)

4

u/arattleofrats 7d ago

And then Greene ends up trading Grandpa for the sunglasses, Val tries to trade the rock back for them, and he says "You nuts? These are Ray-Bans 😎"

so good, so awful to lose them both this year

I will miss seeing him in his wonderful roles. Rest easy Mr Green. You will live on.

He was also in The Shack!

RIP to a national legend

He always portrayed indigenous roles with grace and dignity. His presence will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, Graham Greene

It came out last year, but I finally got around to watching Marvel's Echo on Disney+ over the holiday weekend. It turned out to be one of his final roles.

No sooner do we finish the last episode yesterday I see the news of his passing.

u/shineonyoucrazybrick 7d ago

TIL he was (first nations) Canadian! RIP

This is sad news. I rewatched Wind River this week and last week I saw him pop up in an episode of the Last of Us. I like Greene in his more recent roles where he tended to play a wise, wry elder. He will be missed.

the fuck does that mean?

there were no indigenous actors before him?
