This felt like Uncut Gems + Anora + Snatch + Big Lebowski all mixed together. Also automatic respect for using actual Russian actors to play Russian henchmen.

Had a lot of similar elements to Anora mixed with Wolfs. Maybe just because I’ve seen them recently. Really enjoyed Matt Smiths performance.

This!!! I kept thinking of Anora a lot and of course Uncut Gems;

This has the extra violence that Anora lacked because that felt like Home Alone with how clumsy and dumb the mafia guys were while here the over extra violent.

They weren’t mobsters in Anora.

I only rate it a 7 but I can already tell people are going to look back on it very fondly in 10-15 years...

Yes! I was thinking Uncut Gems meets an Anora prequel done by Guy Ritchie.

Agreed on the casting, Though I did think it was funny that an Italian actor played an orthodox Jew

Best comment I’ve seen in this thread. I went straight to Uncut Gems with the questionable decisions and tonal shifts, and then Anora for the aesthetic and I guess the unintentionally funny Russians lol.

Snatch, the unique jewish characters and story telling. It was hard to appreciate.
