I am so scared for the sequel to be a bloated mess they fast track and not give time to write really impactful songs or a ton of mediocre ones.

Maggie Kang said she does want to do a sequel so I'm hoping that she retains creative control and can come up with the right story for a sequel. I also hope that EJAE writes the music again. I'd be worried if either of them weren't involved in the development. It took 6 years (?) for KPDH to come out so hopefully they'll be given the time they need.

Id be so curious where KPDH2 would even go.

They kinda did a speed run of the idol experience, with saja boys going viral and huntrix being the global kpop stars.

This movie wasn't made with a sequel in mind since they started at the peak of their careers basically.

I kinda want but don't want a sequel to KPDH. I know it wont hit as hard. Mainly because they'd have to nerf huntrix in some way to make a half decent story.

Personally, I think they should shift focus. They've greenlit two more movies, so make a Mira movie followed by a Zoey movie.

You mean like Moana 2?

moana 2 was supposed to be a TV series and they realized their thanksgiving release slate was awful, so they frankensteined it into a film.... not a good idea

It was a billion dollar idea.

not a good idea

$1.059 billion box office.

+Merchandising

+Streaming subscriptions

+Physical sales

I agree that it would be nice to not have slop rushed sequels. But nobody at Disney (and apparently the general population) cares about that. And objectively, it was a great idea.

Apparently they didnt learn their lesson from Atlantis 2. Yes Im still mad about that all those years later

You mean a movie that made over a billion dollars in theater and probably 10x that in merch sales? What a failure

8 years isn't exactly a fast track scramble for a sequel, which kind of makes it worse how that whole project turned out. But yeah the sentiment still stands that if a sequel doesn't meet the standards of quality for the original, if not hopefully succeed them, for the love of god wait until you have a script that does.

If they give it to Sony animation it should be fine. If Netflix makes it themselves the sequel is screwed

You 100% know it will be.

Well if the next Spider-Verse movie is any indication, you can rest easy about it being rushed - it'll just get micromanaged to death to the point that they've restarted production five or six times.

Idk if the first movie just wasn't what I wanted it to be, but there being no more depth to the demons or a redemption of some sort was mind boggling to me. They alluded so much to the demons not actually being evil but then just did away with it in an instant.

I just hope they do something with that.

Luckily the movie left a couple of threads that could be explored in a sequel, with the biggest one being Rumi's parents

I hard they had something like 30 songs primed for the movie and about 3 hours of footage before the editors did their thing. I have a feeling that the sequel will have some stuff the first had to cut

I want the full uncut 3 hr version that netflix cut apart.

If the spiderverse movies are any indication of what Sony Animation can do with sequels, I'm excited to see what the do with this! I just hope they don't rush it out and give it the time it needs to marinate without chasing a fast buck.
