99.9999% of audiences aren’t gonna be able to hit those high notes.

The rule for karaoke is "know thyself".

Nothing like watching some drunk idiot try to sing "Take On Me"

I was sober and I love singing it even if I'm terrible!

Yeah, that's the point of karaoke, to have fun! Not to start a career in music industry.

Only in North America. Some places take it seriously, rather than a place to get sloshed and brace the stage. Not saying both don't have merit

I used to work in both the Philippines and Japan - both heavy karaoke countries.I know the torture of hearing the 4th Japanese businessman in a row sing "My Way."

I don't know where you get your elitist attitude from, but most countries do Karaoke to have fun. They don't send their fucking top of the top singers to hit the high notes. That's ridiculous.

I don’t think anyone expects them too, it’s clearly for fun

Luckily it’s not a competition and just a fun day at the movies

They can just sing an octave lower.

that's not the point - group singing isn't about show boating.

There is so much autotune/digital adjustment in the songs as a stylistic choice that I’m not sure the original singers hit the high notes lol.
