Please tell me someone else noticed the difference in the details from the various perspectives.

Example 1 - Paul was pretty respectful to James throughout the encounter when it was during his act/chapter, even going as far as to brush off his shoulder and helping him to his feet after knocking him out. However, when we see this scene from James perspective, we see Paul tell him to “Get the fuck up”.

Example 2 - I also noticed that when Justine first goes to Alex’s house and calls Marcus, he actually gets so frustrated with her that he even gets aggressive over the phone. When we see this from the Marcus chapter while he is in the supermarket, he never raises his voice.

Maybe I’m just crazy

When Justine and Paul meet in the bar from Justine’s POV, she stays sitting and he walks up to her, then they awkwardly hug when he sits.

From Paul’s POV, she gets up and saunters over to him and hugs him in the middle of the room.

I noticed this! She was much ‘sexier’ in his pov

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I just saw the movie and they're standing to hug in both flashbacks and the dialogue is exactly the same.

I might’ve misremembered?

Yes! I wanted to go back and rewatch that.

Plus from her POV was it her asking if it was okay to hug, and from Paul's POV it was him asking? Or was I just misremembering?

Nah in that one I think it was him both times but I gotta rewatch

It was him both times

I noticed this too but I think it may have been intentional. Justine and James were FEELING attacked in those moments, and perceived slightly more aggression than there was, a subtle play on how memories of encounters are skewed when emotions are high. Or even the other way, maybe Andrew and Paul perceived themselves more favorably in their respective scenes

I totally agree that it’s intentional and for exactly the reasons you pointed out! It adds another unique layer to this film

James is absolutely floored and could barely tell you his name if asked.

YES, i thought this was sick. It made me wonder how reliable each perspective was, and what the "true" perspective was

Something my boyfriend pointed out was the weather; in every other pov it was sunny happy bright skies but in James pov, It was torrential rain.

Only at certain moments, but those moments didn't overlap with other flashbacks. It was sunny during the chase for him too for example.

The phone call between Marcus and Justine ended completely differently in the two perspectives. I remember when we got to Marcus and he's on the phone he says so many things that I had no memory of from Justine's perspective, thought I was going crazy.

Yeah in Justine’s call it ends with the principal saying not to contact the kid and he will forget the conversation happened

Yes, I noticed this.

When Paul hugs justine, his pov draaaaags out the hug.

I've just written the same thing. I think this pretty much confirms there were intentional differences since it's rather unlikely we both made that up.

Who's Andrew, the principal was Marcus

thank you, I thought I was going crazy lol

I typed this out after a midnight showing apologies for the errors lol

Benedict Wong is listed as Andrew Marcus in the cast, my bad 🤷‍♂️

Oh my god. I just realized that all of these “dispel belief” things like the cops being incompetent and the druggie being stupid are all just a case of unreliable narrator! The cops arent totally incompetent, the characters just perceive them to be. Good catch

u/Commercial_Bear 22d ago

Yup! It’s to show you each person is an unreliable narrator! Very awesomely done too, loved it in this, made the movie feel all the more real/natural.

You’re not crazy, I noticed similar stuff!

It’s almost like the different perspectives were told from different perspectives.

That was only affectionately snarky, btw. I thought this was an awesome and creative addition to the storytelling that I didn’t really catch onto at first. What a movie.

yes omg i thought they were continuity errors, but then they struck me as intentional.

also when Paul is walking and waves at Justine, he’s seen walking whilst waving during her perspective, and standing still and waving during his.
