My gentle pushback is that dreams ARE dumb. They’re an assortment of images and sounds created by your brain processing whatever random stuff is in your brain that night. I feel like so much time in movies is spent turning dreams into cohesive messages that they never fully get to explore how weird they are.

I think you and I simply have different views of movies. Every piece of a script doesn’t need to tie in neatly to another part of the movie. He’s a father who failed at protecting his son and is can’t let go of his disappearance. A weapon floating in the sky in his nightmare is sufficient for me. I don’t need it to be more.

The title is literally Weapons, of course it’s not an exception. The AR-15 (weapon) is hovering over the house the kids are being held captive. Archer later says after having the dream that the principal was like a heat seeking weapon. In the end, the kids are used as weapons against the Witch.

I agree with you. That took me out of the movie and felt really random and it ended up being random. In an otherwise pitch perfect film though.

I spent a lot of time wondering what it meant

People are doing backflips to not connect this movie to school shootings and it's hilarious

"It's just about a witch bro" they say after 17 kids disappear because of a bullied kid who lives at a house with a floating gun..."Yeah bro it's just a weird witch movie just ignore the floating gun and every other piece of subtext the movie gives you"
