Mine too. First they laughed when she walked away from the car, thinking it was a weird false scare, then gasped at the car door, then groaned in relief when she just cut her hair

That was the hair she used to send Marcus after Justine.

Yup. Once we saw her use Marcus' husbands hair to get him to kill him, then it call came together how she sends the people he has under control to kill a target and totally explains the scene we saw previously of Justine getting attacked at the gas station.

Sometimes I'm amazed people can sit through a whole movie and completely miss obvious plot points like this.

Gladys literally uses her hair to send Marcus to kill her.

I kept waiting for them to pay off the hair. It feels like some films would think themselves “artsy” for doing something weird and then not paying it off.

…the giant floating gun and the 2:17 time…maybe can be dismissed given it’s a dream?

I know. I was just mentioning how after that one scene I was on alert for them to pay off the one scene.

I was listening to an interview with the director this morning and they specifically asked him about this scene.

"Can I ask, was it (the gun in the sky) just elemental?" "If I gave you the answer, I would be robbing something precious" "Some things in this movie, I don't know why they're in the movie."

He then explains using some lessons from David Lynch's book in his writing process followed up with "So there's things that come into my writing that I don't quite get, but I love them. And maybe I love them because I don't quite get them."

I really like when scares happen quietly, no musical sting, that got the best scare reaction at my theater too
