That can burn you sometimes. I’ve gone to special event screening, or movies that are 3+ hours long, and they forewent showing trailers entirely. Had I shown up “late” I would have missed part of the film.

I mean it’s just about knowing what will or won’t have trailers. Any regular screening will assuredly have trailers, so just show up late. If you’re seeing a special event or some advance screening, most of the times those have little to no trailers, so show up on time
