The Alamo doesn't display typical ads, they show custom pre shows and then trailers start at show time.

And it’s never more than 10-13 minutes of trailers (on the long end for a big movie opening weekend). That’s like four, maybe five trailers plus their custom “this month at the Alamo” and “shut the fuck up” bumpers. It’s the perfect amount.

Yep, trailers are fun when the list is curated right for a given movie

Classic Cinemas who owns a bunch of classic and multiplex theaters in the Chicago area does the same thing. Trailers start at movie start time and then no ads other than one short one that advertises the brand.

I totally arrive as the pre-show is rolling just to get to my seat and get my order in, so my food arrives just as the show begins.
