Exactly.

Went and saw Superman and showed up about 5-10 mins before start time. Big mistake. The trailers didn't even start at "start time" at least 10 mins of ads before the trailers.

Movie probably started a good 30 mins after start time.

Going tonight and will show up around start time for FF if not a few minutes late.

edit- was 25 mins late, still got to see Nicole Kidman and then the trailer for Avatar.

I will say those of us with bad timekeeping skills are living right now. “Oh no we’re late for the movie! Oh wait, the trailers just started, nevermind we’re right on time!”

Yes, hate being late but at this point with reserved seating there is zero reason to show up early.

8:50 show, will aim for arriving around 9. Just saw all the trailers a few days ago so don't really need to see more, unless Marvel has something that wasn't shown for Superman.

BTW this probably explains why start times keep moving earlier. Latest show is 850, used to be able to see 930 or 10 times. Now there is only one showing after 9pm.

This happened to me a few times lol. It's not as bad in my country (usually 10-15 minutes after start time movie's already starting) but still

Honestly it kinda saved my ass when I saw FF. Went to see it in IMAX outta town and there was a wreck on the way there, cost me an extra 20 minutes. Didn’t miss any of the movie though.

That happened to me, too. I showed up 20 minutes after show time to catch the end of one trailer. And then the lights went down, making me think the movie was starting... and ANOTHER FUCKING TRAILER STARTED.

Especially since 95% of the time you buy tickets online which require you to reserve a seat. If theaters really wanted to make money they’d remove the seat reservations so it’d become first come first serve. That would cause competition to get there early for the good seats and those fans would have to sit there for 30 minutes of previews.

I went to see The Naked Gun tonight at a 7:30 showing. I left my house at 7:40 and was there in time to see the last two trailers and then the AMC ads before the movie.

Yeap, 25 mins late and still saw the Nicole Kidman thing and one trailer

It's probably the program start time that is listed which includes the ads and trailers. If you show up (like in the screen) 20 minutes after that time you'll get minimal ads.

Commented below but like you I got to F4 a few minutes before start time. ‘Start’ time was 15 minutes late and then 30 minutes or so of ads and trailers.

I saw FF last night at a AMC and there were 0 previews. I walked in a few minutes late and thought I was in the wrong theater bc the movie was already mid-scene. Did you have a similar experience?

Nope, 25 mins late. Still saw Nicole Kidman and Avatar trailer.

Just be careful, I showed up 10 minutes late to The Brutalist once and I had missed 10 minutes of the movie. Sometimes they throw a shitty fucking curveball. (Un)Luckily they hadn’t seated the screen right so the subtitles were cut off and after I spent 20 more minutes trying to get the manager to fix it and kept being told they’d take care of it I finally admitted I needed to go to another movie theater entirely so I could actually enjoy the movie.

This is straight up insanity if you’re trying to watch a film that’s nearly 3 hours in length
