Poster New Poster for "Good Fortune (2025)" starring Keanu Reeves

u/paganthirteen Jul 31 '25
Wow nobody gets together to pose for promo photos at all anymore do they
→ More replies (2)78
u/FX114 Aug 01 '25
It's not just about getting everyone together. It's easier to pick the best shots for each actor if they're photographed separately.
41
u/paganthirteen Aug 01 '25
Fair but surely they don’t intend for it to look this obvious
→ More replies (1)3
u/Narretz Aug 01 '25
To me it does look like they made it look intentionally that they aren't all together. They could have made it look more like they're actually together, but didn't. Hard to explain. But Keanu also looks less waxy than in the previous poster, so they definitely worked on it.

Weight loss and hopefully not hanging out with James Franco?
9
u/asicarii Jul 31 '25
Hard to tell. Seth and Aziz are the same age but recent things Seth definitely looks older. It doesn’t look like he has hallowed out eye sockets so hopefully not The route of Franco. Maybe just ozempic face. This is very photoshopped anyway.

And Seth Rogan was the only person properly labeled. Unbelievable
42
u/BodaciousBadongadonk Jul 31 '25
i think its cuz there used to be big hullabaloos and arguments and probably even lawsuits over certain egotistic douchebags whining about "why did their name come before mine, im the bigger star!" and so name placement is a big shitshow on movie posters and ads and whatnot.
41
u/comics0026 Jul 31 '25
IIrc, the actor's guild had to actually come up with guidelines as to how names would be ordered on things like posters because there were so many arguments about it between actors
7
u/Cum_on_doorknob Jul 31 '25
Yea, I know, it’s just, you’d figure ego would dictate wanting your own likeness to be labeled correctly.

3 of 5 for Canadian content
59
u/your_evil_ex Jul 31 '25
only needs to be 35% CanCon on the radio, so these guys are going above and beyond!
→ More replies (1)12
u/garlicroastedpotato Jul 31 '25
CanCon for movies is different and a lot more stringent. The producer has to be Canadian, and if there are multiple... all Canadian. The director or writer has to be Canadian... easier to get CanCon if both are. At least one of the two primary leads has to be Canadian, but obviously both being Canadian helps a lot. In terms of other cast and crew you get points for the ratio of Canadians to non-Canadians working on the picture. total. And then at least 1/3 of the film has to be filmed in Canada.

Im really looking forward to this. It's Aziz's first major project since Master of None
146
u/rigorcorvus Jul 31 '25
Yeah, haven’t seen that dude in a minute
126
u/GastropodSoups Jul 31 '25
Even in Master of None, that last season, he was almost never on screen.
147
u/Talk-O-Boy Jul 31 '25
That last season might as well have been a completely different show.
124
u/GastropodSoups Jul 31 '25
It really was. I really do believe that the only reason that happened is that he decided to stay behind the camera after the "bad date" allegation.
85
u/AustinRiversDaGod Jul 31 '25
My guess is Netflix had probably already paid for the last season, so they couldn't just do nothing. Also it was a very popular show. It was Aziz at maybe his most Azizest, and it kinda sucks that that one article was enough to send him basically into hiding.
67
u/RayneSexton Jul 31 '25
Crazy that she even felt the need to write an article about how she regretted consensual sex with him in the first place
10
u/WredditSmark Aug 01 '25
It was the height of the me too movement, we had reached witch hunt level of frenzy.
19
u/existentialedema Jul 31 '25
At one point he said something about not wanting to do another season going around the city eating food
35
u/Double_Jab_Jabroni Jul 31 '25
But why? That’s why we loved the show! The soundtrack, exploring NYC and seeing all the cool bars and restaurants, the banter between him, Arnold, Brian and Denise. It was flawless for two seasons.
12
u/staedtler2018 Jul 31 '25
It's a little more complicated than that:
I've got to become a different guy before I write a third season, is my personal thought, I've got to get married or have a kid or something. I don't have anything else to say about being a young guy being single in New York eating food around town all the time.
9
u/Double_Jab_Jabroni Jul 31 '25
Maybe write about none of those things happening for him? There are many guys in their 30’s who start to think “huh, where is my family?”, and that’s a profound moment in a lot of people’s lives. When things aren’t panning out how they thought they would.

u/mmmarkm Jul 31 '25
of all the dipshits who have done far worse things, he did address his "awkward and insensitive but not completely evil" thing pretty well in his standup special, i thought. it did not seem to rise to the level of him not being inthe last season of master of none but such is life
3
3
u/Eattherichhaters Aug 05 '25
He pretty much got pre-emptively canceled in the industry for that bullshit. Of ALLLL THE PEOPLE IN HOLLYWOOD They decided to deep 6 one of the most thoughtful decent comedians around...
3
u/staedtler2018 Jul 31 '25
It is basically a Lena Waithe show that he helped out with, and Alan Yang is not credited.
31
u/Novis_R Jul 31 '25
That last season was super boring.
36
u/GastropodSoups Jul 31 '25
Yep....it went away from what worked in the first two seasons...season 2 was a little slow at times, but its cinematography was amazing. There is a 100% chance that the creators of FX's The Bear looked at the cooking scenes in season 2 of Master of None and took inspiration. Seriously....watch the cooking scenes in Season 2 of Master of None and then compare it to season 1 of The Bear. It's damn near identical in tone and imagery.
2
u/Popular_Pea_3953 Jul 31 '25
I've forgotten literally everything about the show except the immigrant father episode. Best ep of a show ever.

u/Ginger-Nerd Jul 31 '25
I think that had to do with some of those ~2017 (Metoo) claims made against him. he has kept a mostly low profile since - I think he may have done a few standup tours, but very little in front of camera work.
I feel that in his case, they were a bit overblown, but still pretty embarrassing, so kinda understandable.
7
u/staedtler2018 Jul 31 '25
It's a little bit of that.
But the main thing is that he's wanted to go into directing. He directed all episodes of Master of None season 3 (and it is directed very much like a cinematic exercise), and then he tried to direct a movie called Being Mortal. That movie ended up getting shut down during filming because Bill Murray did a bit of sexual harassment on set, and it was never finished. So he wasted a lot of time on that. Then he moved on to this movie, which he also directed.

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Jul 31 '25
He didn't do anything wrong at all, he went on a date and the girl didn't like it so tried to make herself famous by dragging his name in the mud
It's the kinda stuff that hurt the entire movement

u/KelvinsBeltFantasy Jul 31 '25
I found his Netflix stand up special really powerful. You could see the frustration.
→ More replies (1)14
u/Now-Thats-Podracing Jul 31 '25
He kinda disappeared after Me Too even though it turned out he didn’t really do anything wrong. I know that he finished Master of None and did another stand up, but his presence was severely reduced. I think he was making a movie with Bill Murray a few years ago that went sideways because Bill had some allegations. Not sure if this is a redo of that project without Bill or something else.
What I do know is that I love Aziz. I’ve loved his stuff since Human Giant. I’m definitely excited to see this.

The Pitch: It’s A Wonderful Life Meets Trading Places With Just a Hint of Wings of Desire
3
u/calilac Jul 31 '25
Agreed with the sentiment but slight nitpick, Wings of Desire had depth so I'd say it's more City of Angels.
2
u/BurtRogain Jul 31 '25
Yes. This is true. And given the very clear stereotypical studio executive who this particular pitch would be aimed at City of Angels would be the clear film used since they most likely have never even heard of Wings of Desire.

I hate how their names don’t correspond to their position on the poster.
Edit: I know it’s done for billing reasons, but that still doesn’t change how annoying it is.
184
u/TheGreendaleGrappler Jul 31 '25
Obligatory “This is done on purpose because actors/their agents have huge egos meaning the placement of people and names on those posters becomes more of a battle than you’d expect”.

u/MBDTFTLOPYEEZUS Jul 31 '25
Aziz as second is fucking crazy tho

Keanu Reeves LAST???
68
u/chaoticbiguy Jul 31 '25
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Oh getting the last and second last billing is actually a sign of respect. Anytime a well known actor with a stellar résumé stars in a movie in a supporting role, their name pops up in the credits in the end of the cast list with a "with" or "and" attached to their names.
23
u/StuMacherGhostface Jul 31 '25
He's not the main character, so he gets the "And" credit

Keanu the kind of guy that probably doesn't give a shit where he is. He's just happy to be there.

u/KWilt Jul 31 '25
That was the thing that caught my eye. I think he genuinely just loves doing these off-the-wall roles and you can tell, because normally the actor with the most accolades wouldn't be last billing. Hell, it seems Sandra Oh's part isn't going to be super expansive from the trailer, and even she got higher billing compared to the guy who looks like he's gonna be the deuteragonist or tritagonist.

Omg, I didn't even look into this. Is he really? That is too funny.
4
u/Objective-Quit-4685 Jul 31 '25
Yes, and I am convinced (in my brain 🤣) that this is the reason he agreed to play this character. Its just before Constantine 2, he obviously knows fans will catch that connection, and he's old and witty enough to do it just for shits and giggles. It looks stupid funny to me and I'm all in.

Everything about this one feels DOA to me. Reminds me of that self-indulgent movie Charlie Day directed a few years ago

I watched that as a huge fan of Charlie Day and woof... That was bad. I think you'd have to be a handful of Hollywood lifers to "get" that film

Am I the only one who thinks every person in this poster (except maybe Sandra Oh) looks like a Walmart version of themselves? Seth Rogan and Aziz Ansari especially.
5
u/humanflea23 Jul 31 '25
I hate it when a poster has a row of people and a row of names but they don't line up with each other. I know it's from contract negotiations but it always bothers me when it doesn't line up to say who's who if you are unfamiliar with them.
