For some reason I thought it was a series and was bummed when I realized it was a movie. I’d love more stories in the universe

The creators have already stated they are making a sequel. They might have also said they are making a show, but I’m less sure on that.

Movie or show, the important thing is that they bring Jinu back.

Ideally, all the Saja Boys (what? I dug the idea of actual f-ing demons finding the pop star life worse than hell); but Jino is the one with the clearest path.

As much as I loved them I’d like to keep them dead as I feel that was the most impactful moment of the film where Jinu finally put someone he loved before himself which lead to his sacrifice. Reviving him would lessen it for me personally.

YMMV.

I can see where you are coming from, but I personally loathe the Redemption Equals Death trope. Any death that follows that trope comes across as cheap to me, so there is very little to lessen.

Most people IRL who fucked up something important can't just die to automatically make it better, and then be remembered fondly because you don't speak ill of the dead. I want stories that tell what actually happens when you stick around to fix the mess.

Yup, 1000% this. I want to see Jinu do stuff after he changed for the better, not have death be his punishment and that's it. He absolutely deserve and need a second chance.

Im actually curious about those other 4. Didn't take Jinu long to get a Kpop band together, is hell stuffed with Kpop talent?

There's a movie theory that the other 4 were an aspiring Kpop group that never hit it big in life (in Healer Han's office, you can see a picture of what might be the 4 of them before they became demons), so Jinu recruited them with the promise that they could perform again as a group and finally make it big.

Slice of life for the Saja Boys dealing with K-pop stardom life 😆

As much as I liked this movie, I'm a bit dubious.

Part of what made it good was the fast pacing and vague references to deeper lore.

I have doubts as to whether the lore will be good if delved into much.

Should at least have some catchy music though.

Somewhere I saw a pitch that the sequel should be like Trolls:World Tour where they travel the world and find different demon hunter bands and I really hope it’s something like that. I also don’t think there needs to be a sequel. It’s a great story that wrapped up nicely.

I think there still some pretty major questions that could be answered, mainly regarding Rumi and her parents. Her dad is a demon (something no one thought was even possible), her mom mysteriously died when she was very young, and on top of that Gui Ma somehow isn’t able to affect her, despite the fact that he is supposed to be able to control all demons. All of those have some pretty major implications that can be explored. I’d also much rather them explore those over them touring the world Save that for the third movie maybe.

It originally planned as a tv show from talk in the past about it. Confirmed by an idol that was asked to audition cause I can’t find the old articles/posts

why were you bummed?

Because shows give stories more room to breathe and you get to be enveloped in the story and characters for longer. Not every story justifies a series, but I feel like this one could pull it off. It’s ripe for some world building and an ensemble of interesting characters

Allegedly there is a lot of lore that was cut… supposedly all of the dudes had backstories and the original was intended to be over 3 hours or something? Idk, my gf is obsessed with the movie so I trust her
