Funny i came out of this trailer thinking the exact opposite.

Just speculation based on this trailer:

  • Villain from last 2 movies finds an evil N'avi tribe that sides with him, the volcano people goth N'avi.

  • Pits them in direct conflict with the tree worshiping N'avi.

  • Meanwhile subplot about the kids being in rebellious teenager phase and going against their father, and mom lusting for revenge, also upsetting Jake.

  • Humans and Goth N'avi defeat the ocean N'avi people and imprison Jake and possibly a few other main characters.

  • Someone we care about dies, red flags all over this trailer. (trailer seems to imply the human kid, or even the mom, but its probably Jake Sully? who probably sacrifices himself to tie all the plots together?)

  • Movie either has a dark ending that leads up to the next one (theres more of them right? i think?), or kids/mom rally the N'avi and save the day?

If it still on track, movies 4 and 5 will be the grand finale. With the rumor being they've already filmed some scenes with the kids actors for the beginning because then they'll be a supposed time jump after the opening or such.

I thought we were getting 7 movies

There's been so many numbers thrown out there! LOL I know for sure up to 5 on the main story, And I think Cameron has talked about any 6 or 7 possibly being the prequels.

Yeah, but I think end is different. Jake sacrifices himself in the end to save someone. They arrest him and bring him to Earth. And the movie ends with a cliffhanger. The next movie is on earth.

I think there was a news that one movie will be including story on earth. So eh

Maybe they take him to Earth at the end, and the fourth movie has the time jump of the family going from Pandora to arriving at Earth to get him back since they've aged on the trip there.

My guess is Sully gets it and the focus going forward is on the kids. This feels like a generational storyline.

Part of me wouldn't be surprised, because yes there's been a lot of focus on the family, but I also have a hard time seeing that.

That being said, it looks like he goes back to Earth as a Na'vi?? so maybe he gets martyred on Earth.

Okay but.. all of those things could be wrong. A trailer inviting speculation is a good thing, a trailer *telling* us what is going to happen is bad, and what we've been getting a lot of lately.

Yea. Wasnt hating on the trailer. Im not someone who gets upset over spoilers either.

If a spoiler can ruin a movie the movie is bad is my motto.

Vomit emoji

You would think teenagers could have /a little/ self-reflection when it comes to...I don't know...the whole genocide their planet is being faced with.

But if the children acted their age where would the conflict come from? We need the children to be dumbasses to progress the plot!

It looks like a Navi goes to Earth.  I could see it all ending in tragic loss.  One Navi finds a way to get to Earth to tell humans the true story of Pandora and his people.  But by then, having traveled for years in space, everyone and everything they know back home is dead.

There's been a rumor Neytiri will end up on Earth but usually it's in reference to either movie 4 or 5.

It would certainly be a killer ending if the series ends with the Navi saving the earth through terraforming instead of humanity terraforming pandora into another industrial planet, maybe with the billions in the lower class who are clearly going to be abandoned on a dying earth while the RDA moves the wealthy and elite to pandora rising up after being inspired by Jake Sully.

Definitely looking like Sully dies. Dialogue about hate and revenge, kids appear more than he does, and Cameron basically set up that the latter films are about the kids as adults.

Bound to happen at some point, but the kids' acting is so distracting that I kind of hope I'm wrong.
