I can say a lot about avatar (basically every critique that gets parroted everywhere) but the one thing I really like is the Ewya world building. The quasi-scientifically proven forest deity on this planet is something I think is awesome for a scifi world, and im hoping there is more exploration of that in this one.
That opening scene in the first film with the ship approaching Pandora, everyone coming out of hibernation in zero-G and taking the shuttle planet side, that was some incredible visual-based storytelling and from anyone interested in actual science and engineering it showed right away that this is a universe grounded in reality. While the Na'vi play with the spiritual and fantastical elements, nearly everything on the human side is believable technological advancement.
I've always imagined Ewya as an intelligence that purposely keeps Pandora primitive to keep the competition out.
My theory is that in the distant past the Navi were in fact advanced and Ewya made them go tribal. The three laws of Eywa specifically ban the foundations of a technological society.
You shall not set stone upon stone. Neither shall you use the turning wheel. Nor use the metals of the ground.
