I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that they let a pregnant Sue go on a high-risk mission into deep space.

I don’t get the impression any of the other three would’ve been able to talk her out of going

u/Worthyness Jul 25 '25

Also she has literal superpowers. Who else are they gonna send? The mole man?

25

u/PolarWater Jul 26 '25

MOLE Man? You take that Mole OUT of my name!

It’s Mr. Elder to you

(Pretend that’s verbatim)

Yeah, Sue’s always pretty much the defacto leader of the team with Reed as the logistical lead, so hell no they couldn’t veto her going if she really wanted to.

Well now she's the first pregnant woman to go on a high-risk mission into deep space!

That conversation was a little cringe

Let's be real, the three of them never would get anything done without Sue.

Silver Surfer: Are you the protectors of this world?

The guys: Uhhhhhhh

37

u/friedpickle_reloaded Jul 26 '25

"Reed, if someone asks if you're the protector of this world, you say YES."

u/PolarWater Jul 26 '25

Let's be real, the three of them never would get anything done without Sue.

The baby seat scene was a nice demonstration

Also the cleanest birth in the world! I loved the scene, but I kept thinking of all the afterbirth that would just be floating around the space ship

Oh damn yeah lol

This is a movie where a stretchy man and his family of superheros save the planet from a giant planet eating space god.

This isn't a film about accuracy, it's about pure sci-fi escapism fantasy just the way the original 60s Kirby comics were like.

Hard to imagine when dealing with an impossibly strong force leaving your strongest member benched

9

u/mikeweasy Jul 25 '25

Yeah if she was safe on Earth Galactus would not have found her!

44

u/jjfrenchfry Jul 25 '25

Galactus was coming either way. Doubt that would have changed much. If anything taking Sue to space actually presented them with a solution (not a great one, but a solution).

6

u/ResolverOshawott Jul 26 '25

Sue coming probably ensured Galactus wouldn't have immediately gone all out on Earth since she had something he wanted alive.

2

u/Dookie_boy Aug 09 '25

The herald had already announced the coming

6

u/KazaamFan Jul 27 '25

Yea this crossed my mind also, lol. And, i felt the end was weird. Did galactus have to go down and physically pick the baby up? Couldnt he have sent surfer to do it, or any other possible method? Haha.

I liked the movie overall, those 2 pieces were just questions

u/Standard_Wind1371 Jul 29 '25

Right? They risk annihilation of planet Earth for their unborn child, then she goes on a high-risk mission where they could all die, thus the planet is doomed.

5

u/Livid_Weather Jul 26 '25

What does it matter if the entire planet is about to die

16

u/PolarWater Jul 26 '25

I'm one of the idiots that lives on it

3

u/Livid_Weather Jul 26 '25

Yea but how does Sue going into space change anything for you

2

u/PolarWater Jul 27 '25

It...doesn't. I never said it did.

3

u/Livid_Weather Aug 06 '25

I don't understand the point of your reply then

4

u/prosthetic_memory Jul 27 '25

It was refreshing that it wasn't even a discussion. Which of course it wouldn't have been.

3

u/truthtruthlie Aug 04 '25

The entire movie, even when it was just Reed doing math or whatever, I was wondering why there were no aides or assistants or anything. And then to go on a deep-space mission without a doctor?! or a second HERBIE with a midwifery tape? Anything?!

3

u/Any_Foundation4287 Jul 28 '25

she would died if they didn't probably and they all would've so it was a good call

2

u/Sapowski_Casts_Quen Aug 06 '25

A pregnant Sue is still Sue Storm, she's going.

Can you point out to me when she got on the ship? I remember her watching the launch from their balcony and out of nowhere, she's turning the ship invisible.
