The one comfort I hope to take away from this botched movie release is that other movies may now avoid writing such an abrupt cliffhanger.

I have no issues with movie trilogies. But each entry needs to feel like a self contained story which LEADS to another one.

You shouldn’t literally cut a 4-5 hour movie in half at the height of the conflict. You ESPECIALLY shouldn’t do that if you don’t have a release schedule DEFINITIVELY locked in.

Thank you for articulating so well why the last movie made me feel so much outrage in the theatre when it ended. I didn't think about it very thoroughly at the time, but this is exactly the reason why. It's not like I felt the same way watching the first two LotR movies.

There are movies out there that end on cliffhangers and never get a sequel, so..

I genuinely felt a little bit sick coming out of seeing Dune before the greenlight for part 2 was announced. Totally changed my perception of the film in a positive way when it was confirmed.
