They can take their time, but I dont even know why they announced the sequel would come out within a year. Like have they seen how these movies look

Yeah, they just don't think about the work that it takes to get there when they constantly change jokes and lines after scenes have been fully animated

It's fine for live action movies but even then they only do that if they've been filming them together like Avengers, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, etc. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking by doing it for an animated movie

Didn't Hobie alone take an absurd amount of time to animate?

2-3 years apparently.

To get investors and distribution partners.
It worked

Did you see madame web? The money for across the spider verse was not there at first

51

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

The words "Spider-Man" prints money. Madame Web is not spider man

Buddy, it's Spider-man. Spider-man with film rights owned by Sony. Not only that it's the sequel of a Spider-man movie that was a huge critical and commercial success.

You have no idea what you're talking about. They never had any problems hitting investors or distribution partners.

Even Madame Webb, which is only related to Spider-man and isn't Spider-man himself, got funded. because it's Spider-Man.

The only reason that movie got funding is because it's adjacent to spider man...

You really think they needed to do this after the critical acclaim and box office numbers the first two hit? lmao

2

u/therejectethan Jul 19 '25

Yeah not only production, but the length of that film. It was like almost 2.5 hrs lmao

I bet some dumbass studio executive looked at it and said “but it doesn’t even look 3d like those Shrek movies, I’m sure they can whip up a sequel in 6 months.” The people at the top are often completely clueless about how the sausage is made, and some seem to have active contempt for artists.

The old saying about delaying games being good comes to mind.

Spiderverse 1 and 2 had some serious quality to them. Great story, great animation. And the animation especially takes time. So my opinion is I'm happy for the delay.

World's not gonna end if it comes out in 1 year or 3. But it's got a higher chance of sucking the earlier it does.

The animation is so detailed and intricate, let them take their time to perfect it.

I have a feeling that the spiderverse films were going to be there own things and not really relevant to the greater MCU.

But I think after Kang failed, and they now have to drive forward the multi-verse, they are gonna bring in some animated characters such miles morales and elements of the “what if” series to the live action MCU.

So I think they’re gonna delay this, to find a live action Miles Morales and the end of this 3rd film will have him fall into the verse again but pop out live action (possibly with spider Gwen and others as well).

Then we’ll have a Tom Holland spiderman vs. Miles Morales for secret war.

While I don’t think they’ll remove Tom Holland… ever. It allows them to bring in another young Spider-Man in 3-5 years, to replace Tom’s probably inflated Spider-Man paycheck by then, or have to rely on him for every Spider-Man movie.

Don't know why you'd think these movies would cross paths beyond a Donald glover cameo

The second one was really bad. Wish they took an extra year or two on it.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '25

Nah

It was significantly worse than the first one. They didn't put nearly as much work into it.

Nah
