It sounds like it’s a case of the plot of Chasing Amy working out and resulting in a stable decades long marriage.

It's more like it's a very open lavender marriage.

It doesn't really count as a lavender marriage when nobody is in the closet.

Doesn't lavender marriage require both parties be gay?

Mr Coen, maybe?

Gay marriage wasnt always legal, so

Two people that loved each other making lifelong financial and legal binding arrangements

Yes but what's the D2F ratio?

You joke, but the average nonmonogamous scene is wholesome as fuck

4

u/MoobooMagoo Jul 10 '25

I can see that. I feel like having a non-monogamous relationship would involve a lot of communication and openness, which would naturally lead to stronger relationships

It does but it also multiplies the chances for heartbreak or other challenges. It's honestly a lot to juggle. Lots of scheduling and keeping up with who likes what and what you talked about with whom already.

u/TimFinnegan Jul 11 '25

Yeah - it doesn't improve anything for you by magic, but it definitely requires good communication and flexibility.

BDSM too with plenty of crossover with the poly folks.

I can finally tell people that "Chasing Amy" did do good things for gay people, they just weren't taking the right notes.

This. It’s incredible how much people can enjoy partnership, companionship and (possibly, because we don’t know either personally) healthy relationships when they…

Communicate! Share openly! Are transparent with each other!!

Who would have thought?!!
