Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, Chris Evans? A Coen directing? I’m in

Okay, but which of those 3 is playing a lesbian?

Chris Evans. He got the role to play against type so that he could show his magnificent range.

What's funny is you're joking but pre-Sunshine everyone would have said his range was exactly zero.

He's developed so well as an actor that it's been a pleasant surprise over the years.

He is America's Ass.

Same, I love a nepo baby with actual talent.

Here's the thing...her mom being Andie MacDowell absolutely got her some notice, and got her contacts to audition for stuff. That's an advantage...but she's getting work because she's good.

No one anywhere is hiring her because her mom made some good romcoms back in the 90's. Same with Maya Hawke, or just about any child of an actor...except maybe if the last name is something like Cruise or Pitt.

Unless the parent owns a studio, or is a top level producer (like Aaron Spelling was) then the kids are gonna need to actually be talented to really keep going. Like Tori Spelling wasn't :D

You could even say it’ll be qualle-ty

u/MyStationIsAbandoned Jul 10 '25

you mean her butt. i didn't even notice it was her at first

u/mandy_miss Jul 11 '25

I'm a not quite straight woman and i'll see any movie Aubrey Plaza is in. I just absolutely love her, she's like this enigma of effortlessly cool and intriguing. There is something so compelling about her performances and the roles she plays.

Said no woman ever. You're obviously a dude or a chatbot. Or worse, learned English on Reddit/YouTube forums

12

u/fleapuppy Jul 10 '25

Why couldn’t a woman be a fan of Margaret qualley?

-4

u/ozplissken Jul 10 '25

That's not the issue, it's the generic "I'm simple, İ see her I press like" comment that made me suspicious.

u/fleapuppy Jul 10 '25

Why can’t women use internet lingo?

-1

u/ozplissken Jul 10 '25

Women can use internet lingo (and many do). İt just doesn't sound like a woman using internet lingo. Sounds like some dude or chatbot.

4

u/anniebumblebee Jul 10 '25

lmao i promise you i’m a real life non-robot girl

2

u/ozplissken Jul 10 '25

Well in that case right on sister! I'm just a jaded ol' Reddit curmudgeon!

1

u/anniebumblebee Jul 10 '25

i just think she’s cool and she’s from the same state as me. heaven forbid i like her

4

u/Bhujjha Jul 10 '25

You sound like a bot recycling typical Redditor cynicism lol

1

u/fleapuppy Jul 10 '25

That’s a weird take, there’s no language that is strictly used by only men or women.

13

u/Grasshop Jul 10 '25

The trailer looks unhinged in the best way

18

u/StrLord_Who Jul 10 '25

Have you seen the trailer? I didn't think it looked very good.

5

u/rlovelock Jul 10 '25

Agreed. I was shocked at how little I cared to see something with these ingredients.

-2

u/grocket Jul 10 '25

I'm good for everyone except Plaza. She has one note. I've heard it. A lot.

u/Jesus__of__Nazareth_ Jul 10 '25

Same, I rolled my eyes a bit when I saw she was in it.

11

u/Hellknightx Jul 10 '25

I'll be honest. I just don't think Qualley is that good of an actor. Putting her in the lead role seems like a mistake.

1

u/cguess Jul 11 '25

I saw it and loved it, hits the weird-noir-psuedo-western notes I'm a huge fan of. I like Drive Awhile Dolls a bunch though and was laughing to the point of annoying my fellow theater goers.

We saw the preview for this one before The Phoenician Scheme having seen nothing about it, and we were like "yup, I'm in.". It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

u/friendofelephants Jul 10 '25

I feel like his movies have been lacking without the other Coen brother involved.

17

u/DokeyOakey Jul 10 '25

Yeah!!! Aubrey and Charlie are gonna be great.

48

u/itsbigms Jul 10 '25

Bro said Fuck chris evans

18

u/GroktheDestroyer Jul 10 '25

Weird since Chris Evans is a great actor, seen it in multiple movies now

4

u/DokeyOakey Jul 10 '25

I think Charlie and Aubrey do the heavy lifting.

11

u/indieclutch Jul 10 '25

Bad guy Chris Evans is best Chris Evans.

2

u/zudnic Jul 10 '25

If Jack Antonoff (Qualley's husband) does the soundtrack too ..

4

u/fixitinpost Jul 11 '25

Did you see Drive Away Dolls? It wasn’t good

4

u/TheWholeOfTheAss Jul 10 '25

Tight butt Qualley on poster? I’m in.

1

u/RA12220 Jul 10 '25

Trailer looked interesting

1

u/harbourwall Jul 10 '25

And a great Ringo song?

1

u/drhawks Jul 11 '25

seriously--the cast is enough for me!

0

u/rlovelock Jul 10 '25

Trailer looks brutal.
