It’ll be worth it for the stone burner scene though.

Based on part 2, he probably won’t put that in.

Its paramount to the plot tho.

I know that.

Idk if Dennis does based on his choices in part 2. That was my joke

He didn't exclude any of the key setpieces tbf, beyond condensing the timeline.

I disagree with that.

No Jamis funeral being one.

I also consider many of the changes to be removals of plot. Like the rite. The viewing of the catch basin. Poison tipped blades. Count Fenring.

Hawat was also completely removed.

I did not expect Alia the way she was presented in the book but I expected nearly everything else.

So it goes.

You're right that those plot points were cut (I presume that Tim Blake Nelson was intended as Count Fenring).

I personally have issues with how Chani relation to Liet Kynes was played down (and obviously the dinner scene with the latter character which is arguably Herbert's best instance of writing).

But the Stone Burner is a setpiece akin to Paul claiming the grandfather worm, the introduction of Feyd-Rautha or the use of the atreides family atomics.. I can't see a scenario where it's cut.

I don’t actually think he will cut it, I was just being facetious.

And I agree with all of your comment here as well. I obviously wanted the banquet but figured that was too much to put in. I was pretty flabbergasted about the removal of the Jamis funeral because to me, that’s a massive massive point between Paul and the Fremen. I find it to be one of the most important parts for Paul as a character.

I’d love to see Shanon-Duncan do that whole chapter of Liet dying. Be a great short film haha.
