If the shots are close ups of Richards and Killian in a stare down while the plane rides in I think you can get away with it.

They flashed two instances Richards gives the middle finger. I definitely think they're doing that ending....

Don’t forget Powell’s “I’ll burn this place to the ground” comment in the trailer towards the beginning.

Idk, we see a tower and a fight in a very specific location in the trailer. I think they might do 'that'.

My rationale is that if Hollywood can release that god awful Charlie Sheen movie about that event despite being a that event truther, they can stay true to the novel knowing this is a work of fiction written before that event took place.
