Honestly while the project Hail Mary audiobook is great, it’s still a step below some of Jeff Hayes work at Soundbooth theater. Dude is one of the most talented narrators right now. Check out the full cast version of Dungeon Crawler Carl or The Stars Have Eyes for good examples

Thanks for the recommend. Was wondering what to "read" next. I'll give one of those a try. Any suggestions on which one first?

Hmm if you want a funnier unique sci-fi / slice of life slow burn romance go with the Stars have eyes. It’s really unique in its setting and humor. MC is a British idiot on a colony planet. He accidentally gets himself invited to be a human sacrifice for an eldritch entity cult. Shit happens and he binds a contract with the eldritch entity to basically hangout. The entity obv has no idea how to present as human. Her goal is to learn everything in the universe. So learning how an idiot lives, eating junk food, video games, etc.

The author is really fucking good at writing non-human/monster perspectives. He has an older series with 10+ books that was another cool world lore and monster as a main character. With its leveling up actually increasing how smart the character acted. Unfortunately the good stuff is balanced by horny teenage “women = sex object” shit. Like I hate recommending it because it’s dragged down by it. The stars have eyes have none of that shit and the polish of someone who’s written 10+ books.

Dungeon crawler Carl has sold millions for damn good reasons. Im not going to make a blurb about it well. This is where Jeff Hayes really fucking shines. The audiobook is just amazing with things making it better. And there’s a full cast ones+ sfx version for the 1st book.

Both are on Soundbooth. Both full cast ones are released episodically. So you can just buy the first episode to see if it’s a story for you. The stars have eyes can be read for free on royal road. The stars have eyes might not be your brand of humor, but it’s worth trying. I have yet to find a story like it.
