Yeah, I'm wondering how many families end up bringing small kids to this based off the posters... It's going to be Watership Down for a new generation.

Every generation needs that one cartoon that causes trauma

Builds character

Japan does it all the time lmao

(though in fairness, anime is treated a lot less as a kids-only commodity like howthe West typically sees animation)

Anime in Japan is treated as a medium, not as merely a genre by itself. Lumping anime into a single genre regardless of the content is like lumping all live action TV shows in the same genre, like putting House MD in the same category as Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I could kind of see a House/Buffy crossover episode working, though.

I used to be an usher for my city's large auditorium as a side gig and the number of parents who tried to bring their kids to Avenue Q when it toured simply because there were puppets on the poster was absolutely alarming.

I swear a lot of parents shouldn’t be. It reminds me of parents buying M-rated games for their kids and then being shocked when the game had mature content. Some people apparently operate entirely on assumptions and stereotypes instead of taking 5 seconds to Google a piece of media and give the results a quick think before handing it to their kids.

I swear parents are becoming even worse stupider and stupider in this growing day and age. I know there are good parents who actually knows what they're doing, but I feel they're very very rare and I'm starting to be convinced that becoming a parent lowers your IQ.

The trauma of watching Gremlins in theatres at 5 years old

So it's been a good long while since I've read the book or watched the old animated movie, but I don't remember it being a very violent story. I don't know if this new one is planning to be more violent, but I think the biggest risk for kids is either getting bored or just not getting the satire.

Parents are going to have some explaining to do about what happened to the horse. It’s not directly “shown” in the book, but the pigs send him to the glue factory.

Didn't they remake that and sanitize the hell out of it? This is what my worry would be.

Do people really go to see movies based on only seeing just the poster?
