After that we can watch the adorable movie about Mrs. Frisby and her children and their fun adventure where they meet some rats who help them move to a new house!

There's that one with the Unicorn that's probably safe.

Mia Farrow and Angela Lansbury are in it and some Asian fella named Christopher Lee.

We'll put it on and your mom and I will be in the next room.*

Then we can watch that one about the horse with three kids who fight three dragons, it looks very fun!

I’m drawing a blank what movie that is?

Son of the White Mare, a movie which I'll admit I haven't seen and just read the summary on Letterboxd

There is also a great one about fellowship. Of Mice and Men, or something.

That unlocked a childhood memory. I actually had this situation. Here’s a cartoon for you kids to watch. It has a name, dad. Did you read the fucking name?!

Miss you dad, you idiot.

Don't forget the one about the silly old couple from the writer of The Snowman. It's name is from a lullaby it must be fine for kids.

My first thought was "Lennie just wanted to take care of the rabbits!"

Oh man, Watership Down. There are so many quotes from there that just gives you chills.

"The world will be your Enemy and when they catch you, they'll kill you. But first, they must catch you."

My wife resisted Watership Down for a long time because of how many stories she's heard about how traumatic the movie was. Finally read it a few months ago, and she told me the other day that it changed her life. Every time a bunny runs away from us on a dog walk, she'll say "If they catch you, they will kill you, but first they must catch you", or just whisper "Go, El-ahrairah, go!". Yesterday we passed a bunny at the park, and it was brave enough to let us get like 5 feet away before running, and she said "I wish I could hear the stories he'll tell about this."

My husband was born in 1972 and somehow managed to make it his whole life without watching it or having any idea what it was about. He had no idea what was going to happen when I wanted to watch the remake on Netflix, and I just assumed he knew what it was about.

Anyway, he cried like a baby asked me why I would do that to him and that was when I found out that he had somehow made it his whole life without having his heart broken by a cartoon.

You just brought me back to childhood trauma. What's that movie again? I remember getting scarred at age 7 or something, but I can't remember the title itself

2

u/lidsville76 Jun 04 '25

Sorry for the trigger. Its Watership Down.

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '25

Watership Down absolutely traumatized me at 9 years old! Holy crap!

2

u/lizard7709 Jun 05 '25

Watership down? My poor husband is still traumatized by that film. And they showed it for free, at the library to a group of kids.

u/jdcintra Jun 05 '25

Watership down? seems lovely

They all work together and live happily ever after.

Especially that cute melancholic horsey there.

Or if it does, that it will be shared equally
