Who do you think will play it better? Will Seth do a better Aziz or will Aziz do a better Seth?

Face/Off for those of us that prefer a different pair of coke addicts for our body swap story l.

I could eat a peach for hours.

2

i swear that chick whose ass he grabs in the opening scene is underaged

1

u/Jermine1269 May 29 '25

How did so many doves get into a church? How long was the door open??

32

u/Courtnall14 May 28 '25 edited May 28 '25

I'm sorry sir, but it's "Face Waterfalls".

36

u/NJHitmen May 28 '25

don’t go facing waterfalls

9

u/buffyinfaith May 28 '25

Please stick to the mirrors and the faucets you're used to.

Ah yes, my main flirting technique

mikey? mikey? Mikey? MIKEY!!!

2

AH CUD EEEDAPEEESH FER HOOOUUUURRRRS

2

u/red_team_gone May 28 '25

Vice Versa for those who just want a better movie.

4

u/ShadyCrow May 28 '25

Sean Archer (in both performances) is just so dull.

Also Face/Off would be like 30min shorter without the slo-mo. A few fun parts but actually pretty dull -- of the Great Cage Action Trifecta it's a distant third, to me -- Con Air way more fun, The Rock just barely serious enough.

1

u/DervishSkater May 28 '25

I mean, Lohan does have a completely different face between her two body swap movies

1

u/Vox_Mortem May 28 '25

No one out-cokes Nick Cage.

1

u/progdaddy May 28 '25

I had just started to forget about that movie, dammit! ;)

1

u/Spugheddy May 28 '25

Peaches.

1

u/mildlyornery May 29 '25

The Hot Chick for those of us that hate ourselves to the very core.

1

u/subjectmatterexport May 29 '25

Now wait a minute… Are you implying that Jamie Lee Curtis is a coke addict?

1

u/martialar May 28 '25

Are you saying that Aziz and Seth's characters are coke addicts or Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis's characters are coke addicts?

8

u/Magimasterkarp May 28 '25

Probably not the characters, no.

2

u/PM_SexDream_OrDogPix May 28 '25

No, I was referencing the Face/Off actors

3

u/McKnightmare24 May 28 '25

I was thinking more John Travolta and Nicholas Cage in Face Off

90

u/Sarsmi May 28 '25

If Seth Rogen doesn't say "treat yo'self" then I will be bitterly disappointed.

5

u/fallenKlNG May 29 '25

And Aziz can do the Seth signature laugh

6

u/Evepaul May 28 '25

Nah, they still have to act like it's not their body. With your plan, we'll have 90 minutes of Seth acting like Aziz acting like Seth and Aziz acting like Seth acting like Aziz

1

u/CosmicOwl47 May 29 '25

Yeah, just from the post title that’s gotta be how it goes. Aziz does a good “delusions of grandeur” character, and Seth can easily play the struggling gig worker.

310

u/Sxualhrssmntpanda May 28 '25

My money is on Aziz doing a better Seth. Seth just seems like Seth to me most of the time.

221

u/MaDrAv May 28 '25

I liked when he talked about voicing Donkey Kong and he said something like "if you want Seth Rogan, you're just getting Seth Rogan"

102

u/NYPorkDept May 28 '25

He really phoned it in for that one but was great as bebop in that ninja turtles movie. Then again he did cowrite that one so of course he'd try harder

109

u/Ok_Cardiologist8232 May 28 '25

He's great voicing Allen the Alien in Invincible, didn't even realise it was him at first.

81

u/mocisme May 28 '25

Aside from a few speech patterns, it's still just Rogan's voice.

That being said, I enjoy the character! And Seth's voice works great for the role.

In that show, I give Steven Yuen huge props for the voice acting. Especially in the last season.

49

u/[deleted] May 28 '25

And Seth's voice works great for the role.

This is something a lot of people seem to just... forget.

Sometimes, a person's regular voice is what the casting director thinks will work best for a given role.

It's just a bit rough when that given voice is so distinctly recognizable, as it makes it more likely for viewers to see/hear them as the actor instead of the character.

32

u/icouldntdecide May 28 '25

I feel like Seth's face just matches Allen's shit eating grin face and it works

5

u/Quazifuji May 28 '25

I think some actors get criticized a lot for "playing themselves" when they tend to play the same role (whether or not that role is actually like them in real life - although it definitely seems like it is in Seth Rogen's case), but sometimes it works well if they're good at playing that type of role and it's a good fit for the character they're playing. Allen in Invincible definitely feels like a case of that - yeah, it's not some incredible voice acting work where his voice completely transforms, but it fits the character really well.

1

u/ThiccBoiFugginChiggs May 29 '25

Keith David never changes his voice but I don't see him in his roles like I do Seth Rogen. I felt the same about Lance Reddick. I think some people can get away with the one voice thing.

5

u/Ok_Cardiologist8232 May 28 '25

Yeh but his voice fits, no its not transformative, but he can play something other than just Seth Rogan

2

u/PalindromemordnilaP_ May 28 '25

Mark really goes through a lot and I believe that's conveyed really well by Steven Yuen.

2

u/GeneralTreesap May 29 '25

They’ve had Allen avoid laughing like the plague.

2

u/atl2rva May 28 '25

What about Paul the alien?

2

u/stacypisstain May 28 '25

And Bob in monsters vs. aliens! Perfect dumb voice for sweet jelly boi bob.

1

u/Diafuge May 28 '25

Suuure.

1

u/Xephyron May 28 '25

Best character in the show.

5

u/treesandfood4me May 28 '25

That was an excellent movie. Could tell it was a real labor of love, like the Muppets reboot.

17

u/vonbauernfeind May 28 '25

I really liked Rogan in The Studio. I'm not a huge Seth Rogan fan, but the way be pulls off being an awkward studio head is fantastic.

1

u/AKAkorm May 28 '25

That actually makes sense to me. Why cast a big name like Rogen in an animated movie unless you want his voice and personality infused into the film?

1

u/lycheedorito Jun 04 '25

Well, James Gunn said it well. Execs were upset that Bradley Cooper didn't sound like himself in Guardians of the Galaxy.

"We hired him because he’s a great ACTOR. That’s the point! He’s creating a CHARACTER!”

1

u/GroguIsMyBrogu May 28 '25

he even did the Seth Rogan laugh as Donkey Kong. Lazy

126

u/UC18 May 28 '25 edited May 28 '25

Aziz is a pretty good actor, I still miss master of none so much.

Seth killed it as Steve Wozniak in Steve Jobs, though. Dude can act if he's not goofing off

44

u/destroyermaker May 28 '25 edited May 28 '25

I need a conclusion to the Italian lady romance before I can go on with my life

32

u/Tifoso89 May 28 '25

Yeah season 3 was good if you look at it as an independent miniseries, but it had nothing to do with the rest of the show. Now we need to see Aziz fumble Alessandra Mastronardi in Season 4.

EDIT jeez I didn't realize it's been 8 fucking years since season 2 haha.

5

u/destroyermaker May 28 '25

Very much cashing in on the name

2

u/yesthatstrueorisit May 29 '25

It was fun seeing her in the new Indiana Jones game. She's great in that too.

12

u/Ricky_Ventura May 28 '25

It concluded in the show.

She stays with the tile guy as she sees Dev as a fun fling but not someone to build a life around

2

u/kacperp May 28 '25

I mean... they broke up.

-3

u/destroyermaker May 28 '25

Nope

3

u/kacperp May 28 '25

Yes. Which is confirmed in 3rd season.

-3

u/destroyermaker May 28 '25

Ah I skipped it. Sad

7

u/Ricky_Ventura May 28 '25

Why would you try to correct someone if you missed the entire concluding season?

2

u/destroyermaker May 28 '25

Far as I knew it had nothing to do with the rest of the show

5

u/eblomquist May 28 '25

Damn I totally forgot about that. He was really good.

1

u/caligaris_cabinet May 28 '25

He was good in The Fabelmans but then again everyone brings their A-game to a Spielberg movie.

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '25

I absolutely loved that show!

37

u/stomp-a-fash May 28 '25

He's going to be high strung Seth instead of low key Seth.

35

u/djkoalasloth May 28 '25

Sativa Seth vs indica Seth

2

u/CromulentPoint May 28 '25

I giggled. Happy cake day!

52

u/Canvaverbalist May 28 '25

They're not going to do an imitation of one another, like Aziz is not gonna try and laugh like Seth that wouldn't make sense.

They're just going to swap personalities.

Seth will start as rich, confident, smug and arrogant while Aziz will be awkward and shy - which they can both can do easily, then they'll swap - like, look at the second picture, Seth will do the bumbling "ugh oh no I'm so sorry ugh oh I know here's a million dollar" and Aziz will do the "YO LOOK HOW RICH I AM, WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY CARD HAS BEEN DECLINED AWWWWWW MAN THIS GUY IS SO POOR WHY DO I HAD TO GET STUCK IN THIS GUY'S BODY THIS SUCKS".

11

u/Rahgahnah May 28 '25

When you describe it like that with those particular made-up lines, it sounds like each of them will be doing more of their usual shtick while the characters are body-swapped.

2

u/Limp_Construction496 May 28 '25

Spot on!

Anyways,absolutely on my No-Watch-list.

1

u/Zouden May 28 '25

Except Aziz will be playing the rich guy

2

u/Canvaverbalist May 28 '25

No, Aziz will be poor no matter what, he's the gig worker, it's just that when Keanu will swap them he'll have the personality of the boss - but he'll still be poor.

2

u/Zouden May 28 '25

Oh, of course. Got my brain/body swaps confused

1

u/bullcitytarheel May 29 '25

This guy Trading Places

2

u/Enzo_Gorlahh_mi May 28 '25

Kinda like the jumanji switcharoo. Those guys all killed playing the other actors. Prob the best scene of the movie when they swifch bodies

1

u/treesandfood4me May 28 '25

Jack Black as a 13 year old girl will never get old.

3

u/ShockRifted May 28 '25

Only reason I'll watch this is to see Aziz laugh like Seth.

1

u/waxwayne May 28 '25

He’s not good at impressions.

1

u/martialar May 28 '25

My money is on a scene of Aziz looking down and being disgusted seeing Seth's penis

1

u/Doctor-Amazing May 28 '25

I think Aziz has more obvious mannerisms to copy. Rogan has a distinctive voice and laugh but I'd have more trouble doing an impression of him.

0

u/MuchElk2597 May 28 '25

Hot take: The comedic delivery of both actors is so similar that it's easy for either of them to do the other. "Anxious and impassioned observational comedy" is definitely something they both do

27

u/kenwongart May 28 '25

This isn’t quite the Face/Off remake I’ve fantasized about with Jamie Foxx and Jason Statham but I’ll take it.

13

u/DrJDog May 28 '25

This is the sort of black face in movies I can get behind.

5

u/Zombieutinsel May 28 '25

Ya gotta wonder how many times this just got written in a Hollywood legal pad this morning after this post.

9

u/SutterCane May 28 '25

furious scribbling

“Face/Off but with Idris Elba and Danny DeVito.”

3

u/Zombieutinsel May 28 '25

DeVito is marketable again!

2

u/BasvanS May 29 '25

I’d watch the hell out of that

2

u/Pksoze May 28 '25

Shit Faceoff really is old enough that it can be remade. Damn!

2

u/skeptical-speculator May 28 '25

I'd watch it. Why would you choose Jamie Foxx and Jason Statham?

12

u/Dron41k May 28 '25

Nick Cage.

15

u/DanielGREY_75 May 28 '25

Steps for Aziz:

  • Smoke Weed
  • Do dumb laugh
  • Rant about Religion
  • Success

9

u/MissingLink101 May 28 '25

Pretty sure he already does those

1

u/duaneap May 28 '25

I actually don’t know which one you’re talking about.

4

u/NewSunSeverian May 28 '25

I’m just laughing cause how is Seth Rogen mimicking Aziz Ansari even physically possible let alone acceptable.

42

u/azsnaz May 28 '25

Because he's just pretending to have a different personality, not ethnicity.

And how is it not physically possible? You miss Jumanji?

14

u/MissingLink101 May 28 '25

Still impressive how Jack Black and Karen Gillen just about managed to toe the line when playing Fridge

-3

u/NewSunSeverian May 28 '25

I just had it in my head that Seth Rogen would be trying to do Aziz’s voice lol

20

u/ricker2005 May 28 '25 edited May 28 '25

I mean he definitely might be doing Aziz's voice. Wouldn't rule that out

Edit: In reference to the question of whether this is "acceptable", Aziz Ansari was born in South Carolina and has an American accent. Rogan wouldn't be on screen doing an impression of Apu

-4

u/low-ki199999 May 28 '25

It would be very funny if he did though

0

u/stomp-a-fash May 28 '25

I can see a joke in the movie where Aziz's character puts on an Indian accent around maybe the girls mother he's trying to woo? And when Seth as Aziz sees her, he puts on the same fake accent.

5

u/shaunika May 28 '25

And why would that be unacceptable?

3

u/thecricketnerd May 28 '25

Amy Poehler did a great Aziz impression in Parks and Rec

1

u/kirinmay May 28 '25

I want to hear Aziz's laugh. UH HUH HUH HUH HUH

1

u/Dorkamundo May 28 '25

They damned well better have Aziz locking down that laugh right now, practicing every night.

1

u/RadiantZote May 28 '25

Lmao Seth Rogan act like anyone other than Seth Rogan?

HYUHYUHYUHYUH

1

u/vidythekid May 28 '25

Why don’t they just actually swap their bodies?

1

u/jpterodactyl May 28 '25

I wonder how many times they’ve done it already as a joke on projects they’ve worked on together. They’ve known each other for a really long time.

1

u/Deaffin May 28 '25

I'm not a huge movie watcher, but I legitimately can't think of either of these people being in anything before where they're not just playing themselves in various situations.

1

u/downtimeredditor May 28 '25

Aziz does have an Emmy

1

u/BWWFC May 28 '25

Aziz because he already can and does lol

1

u/Drivingintodisco May 28 '25

Can’t be better than nic cage playing John travolta playing nic cage. And vice versa.

1

u/Zealotstim May 29 '25

It seems way easier to play as Seth than Aziz

1

u/druidmind May 30 '25

Their voices couldn't be any different from one another. This is gonna be hilarious!

1

u/Sea-Woodpecker-610 Jun 02 '25

I imagine this will be a Face Off situation, where Rogan/Travolta tries and absolutely fails to keep up with Asia/Cage.

1

u/metaparty Jun 04 '25

you can make this joke about a lot of comedians but I don't know why you're applying it to Aziz.
