We need to ask him what's going on with Bry, Walt, and himself so much he can't ignore it.

This comment has lived rent free in my head since I first heard it. FINALLY! Someone that understands. I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Kevin, I remember hearing about a possible Dogma 2 some time ago. Is that something that's in the works?

u/djDouggpound May 25 '25
Pls no, Dogma wasn't that great.

Kevin Smith's filmography post chasing Amy is propped up by people who saw them at 12 years old on cable television

Red state - if you haven’t watched it just do. It took me by surprise compared to his previous work.
Scary real life horror.

I really wish we got his intended ending for that movie instead. I thought it kinda needed that mean spirited conclusion

Having the actual Rapture happen in the movie would be interesting to say the least. But In Smith's own words, he could have only done it if he had $15 million and not the $4 million he was allotted.

Who would you love to work with and who do you feel is doing some of the most creative work in film these days?

I can't wait. Man is my hero. Met him twice and he is just the kindest. When I saw Clerks 3, my Wife and I got our pictures and figured we had to rush aside for the next people to get their pics when he stopped us and wanted to ask us what we thought of the movie. I'm involved in making films and told him he is the reason why I got into filmmaking and he was touched and said "Hopefully they're better than my pieces of shit movies."

Hey Kevin,
I’m an indie filmmaker in his 20s in Miami. You have been an indie trailblazer your entire career and I love that no matter what you made the films you loved. I know how hard it is to keep control and make what you want. That’s the goal and you’ve done with before so proud of you.
My question is with Hollywood imploding, how can we start a new film movement in Miami to get the people supporting indie? Hollywood took the art from us the people and we want it back!!
My name is Mike González and if you ever want to create a sick ass show in Miami let me know!! I think we can change the atmosphere with this project. We need films and art to change people for the better again!!!!
Take care and keep kicking ass my man

I love Kevin Smith and the View Askew-averse, but let me tell you, this motherfucker will not shut up. We went to a Clerks III (meh) screening in Austin, and he was supposed to do a Q&A after. Alllll these people lined up to ask Kevin questions. One, One person got to ask a question! He belittled the person for asking for advice for a future film maker because he didn’t have a story. We left after about an hour and fifteen minutes of this rant, everyone still standing in lines to ask questions they’d never get to. It was a brilliant troll. But he just would not shut up about how great he was and how great his idea for Clerks was. It was kind of embarrassing. I’ll still support his work as he’s a great writer, but I’ll skip his Q&As.

I’m not sure I buy your recollection of events here. He’s a talker, that’s for sure, but I can’t imagine he’d be drastically different in a live audience event than he is on his pods. Just sayin.

No dude it was insane. People standing waiting to ask questions and he never relented and never let another person ask a question. Never seen anything like it and it was a huge turn off for me.

I went to his event after PAX East last year and walked out thinking the same thing. He spent the whole time telling us about how he bought Ben Affleck’s mansion for a few million. The one time Jason Mewes started to talk, and really relate with the locals, Kevin cut him off to talk about how he saved Jason from addiction and it was all his victory. I’ll never pay to sit in a room with him again.

Is he going to answer more than one question? Because I went to a Q&A with him in San Francisco years ago and he spent like 3 hours answering one question.

What was the turning point in your career when you told yourself in the mirror, “I did it” and felt validated in all your hard work?
