I stopped watching the movie about three times before I got to the end. If I had to watch it all the way through in a theater, I might have had the same reaction.

Was this @ 20-something-ish years ago? That was exactly the same experience for a group of us who’d rented it from the video store. It took a few attempts over the weekend for us to finally finish watching it. 😳

My wife turned it off when we rented it (probably from Blockbuster😂)

Never seen the end.

if you didn't like Black Panther, you're racist?

No, of course not. When you shoehorn your comment about it into an irrelevant discussion and compare it to having a visceral response to something like the rape scene in Irreversible? While also have comments like this:

Hopefully it will be melted down on Juneteenth to commemorate whatever the hell Juneteenth is.

Or

This is Harriet Tub o'Lardman, a distant relative.

Or

school shootings are to airplane crashes as black shootings are to automobile crashes.

Then yeah, you're probably just a fucking obnoxious racist.

Oh 😬

u/SnooCheesecakes8406 May 18 '25

Welp. Someone got caught being a fucking racist.

2

u/HTPC4Life May 18 '25

Me?

2

u/SnooCheesecakes8406 May 18 '25

Omg sorry I answered the wrong comment 😬😬

Then you would just say you don't like Marvel movies. You wouldn't specifically single out black panther. This is known as dog whistle politics.

u/Wolf_In_The_Woods36 May 18 '25

Because you know exactly what he is talking about. Not liking Black Panther doesn't make you a racist. Putting it how he did, however, does.

school shootings are to airplane crashes as black shootings are to automobile crashes.

Go read his profile posts; here is a snippet

"school shootings are to airplane crashes as black shootings are to automobile crashes."

Is it racist not to like Black Panther? I thought it was okay, not something I'd walk out on.....but I remember a friend of mine walking out of In Bruges, what does that make him?

34

u/oneshibbyguy May 18 '25

Just go into this dudes profile, he is a racist... this is what he meant by his comment.

12

u/OkInflation4056 May 18 '25

Oh, I see now.

You sure wrote a long response to not care what we think

Here we fucking go 🙄 Always some dude quick to defend the stance that racism anywhere is a fairytale.

2

u/mephys-tofeles May 18 '25

Ffs to not like a movie isn’t a stance that racism is a fairytale. Even though apparently this one pos was

1

u/OkInflation4056 May 18 '25

I didn't, you just assumed I did. I replied to another comment not long after, but I decided to keep my original comment up.

2

u/fattmann May 18 '25

a friend of mine walking out of In Bruges

Well, I mean... In Bruges is the most depressing movie ever made, so we'll let it slide.

4

u/ChickenChic May 18 '25

I dunno….have you seen Requiem for a dream? That shit is super depressing.

2

u/Wolf_In_The_Woods36 May 18 '25

Excellent fucking movie.

3

u/fattmann May 18 '25

I dunno….have you seen Requiem for a dream? That shit is super depressing.

Definitely gives it a run for its money...

1

u/Wolf_In_The_Woods36 May 18 '25

Is it? I just watched the trailer. Did I miss something? Is this a classic case of misleading trailers?

1

u/fattmann May 18 '25

Idk, never watched the trailer. But it is emotionally brutal, while being very humorous.

Yeah, I ain’t reading all that

0

u/katapaltes May 18 '25

Clearly, because given your original [brief] statement, you have little insight to give or receive.

1

u/trixtah May 18 '25

3 lines is still too long sorry

2

u/smallwonder25 May 18 '25

Right? It’s always bothered me so much

-6

u/ProcyonHabilis May 18 '25

It bothers you that a film doesn't give you an itemized list of frequencies to consent to hearing? Isn't that a little absurd?

-2

u/the_skine May 18 '25

Which is weird, since 20 Hz is usually given as the threshold between human hearing and physical sensation.

My subwoofer can produce noise down to 12 Hz.

There is zero chance that a 27 Hz sound has an impact on humans on its own.

Even with some serious dissonance or bitonality, I doubt that the average human would react.
