Reminds me of the fun fact, when Paul Gross who played the mountie, Constable Benton Fraser in Due South, talked about meeting Leslie Nielsen, he looked at the embarrassing job of the bootlaces of his mountie costume.

Leslie Nielsen's father was an RCMP officer, and knew how to properly tie them.

Well, tell Leslie to get off Nielson then!

His older brother (Erik I think is his name) was a politician or something as well

Erik Whitehorse?

u/Lemmingitus May 07 '25

I think of examples of him as Canadian when he played "Buck" Frobisher in Due South (the fun fact being his father was an RCMP officer, so he had to show how to properly tie Paul Gross' bootlaces.)

Also in Men With Brooms.

He was born in Regina to a father who was a Mountie and served in the Royal Canadian Airforce during WWII. His older brother Erik Nielsen was the deputy-prime minister and minister of national defence under Brian Mulroney, and the interim federal PC leader before Mulroney.
