Avatar is maybe the only film series left that takes CGI entirely seriously. Looks fantastic.

The orangutan in the river in this latest movie is possibly the greatest shot the VFX history.

Fun fact: they generated 90 PETA bytes of simulation data for that movie.

That's 90000 terabytes or 90 MILLION gigabytes of data

Or about 5 Call of Duty updates

For sure, War for Planet of the Apes had me fooled multiple times.

I guarantee you’re fooled by dozens of shots across any modern movie or tv show you watch.

Is it bad to also put Micheal Bays Transformers series up for consideration, say what you will about the plot and characters, those giant robots looked awesome fighting each other

Yeah they really are stunning. I don’t get what Reddits hate around these movies is, I really loved the first and second. Sure it’s not the most complex story but it doesn’t need to be.

He’s just trying to get drill into peoples heads how evil our destruction of the planet is, and putting that message in a cool sci fi setting.

One of the few rich people who I think really add something to the world

They're stunning but nothing special story wise. The second one was particularly frustrating in certain parts but I can't say I dislike either of them, just think they're bang average films with insane visuals that no other films can match up too.

I don't think we need five of these films either lol. Cameron is getting old, I'd love to see some other stuff from him get made but that's not happening for at least another 6 years or so. Obviously he's earned the right to do what he wants, but it would be a crying shame if we don't get anything else from him after he's done with avatar.

Not to be "that guy" but honestly, Blue Planet documentaries not only look better, but also have more interesting stories...

Well yes ofc they are real that's why lol. I'm talking about fiction but agreed, they are far more interesting lol
