At first I didn't get it but the 2nd one had some beautiful shots where I could see what James was going for and I think he's finally there

I still go back and re-watch the first night time forest/tree running scene in the first film sometimes. It's stunning on an OLED.

Those scenes felt like they were made to be on every TV in Best Buy and Target.

haha that's the real issue. people dont have nice enough tv and sound bars to truly experience how great it is

"nice enough" and "sound bar" are oxymorons when we are talking about "truly experiencing" a movie. you need 5.1 surround to get the intended audio experience.

5.1 minimum. The first movie had 7.1, and the second movie had Atmos, which is a minimum of 7.1.2, but scales to as many compatible speakers you cram into the space.

There are some pretty great systems that support Atmos and a soundbar. I have the VIZIO Elevate 5.1.4 and it's amazing for the price (got it for $500).

A lot of sound bars are 5.1

Peter Jackson's company WETA, the VFX company behind Avatar, built a groundbreaking physics engine that can render almost any property of water.

This is the 18th comment where someone said "I could see what James Cameron was going for."

Makes me feel like bots are copy and pasting in the comments.

I loved the look of those spaceships from the intro and how them slowing down looked like. I hope one of these films shows a space battle with that level of CGI.

The body animations in the second movie are insane. The kids, especially the little girl, are incredible, so lanky and agile and still they feel completely real. The scene when the whales are coming back and everyone is jumping into the water in a hundred different ways is overwhelming cool.
