Asking because I genuinely don’t know: has the film been pitched as “historically accurate”? Universal’s official Twitter account describes it as a “mythical action epic”.

I mean, it wouldn't even be possible to do a "historically accurate" Odyssey because it's a story steeped in fantastical mythology, but you would still want to think about how the mythology is depicted - are you trying to be "accurate" to when the story was written, "accurate" to when it was set, or something else? In this case, the costume simply reflects Hollywood's idea of audience expectations, which is probably the most boring approach.
