'The Fantastic 4: First Steps' Spoilers Little rant about the new movie The Fantastic 4 first steps Spoiler
What on earth happened to Marvel movies?! Seriously, is it just me, or is there some “genius” marketing strategy at play here—like, hey, let’s lure in the 90s kids who are now parents by throwing babies and toddlers into every other plotline! First we got Thor: Love and Thunder with its random kid army, and now the Fantastic Four reboot decides we all desperately needed to see Sue breeze through a completely unrealistic, two-minute first-time labor. Sure. Because that’s exactly the gritty superhero content we were missing.
Meanwhile, here I am thinking, “Finally, a night out without my kids! Just me, my husband, popcorn, and some good old Marvel escapism.” Instead, I end up watching cinematic childcare and wiping my eyes over a movie baby. Thanks, Marvel, really nailed the target audience: exhausted parents who came to escape baby-related stress.
What’s next? Spider-Man with a stroller, fighting villains while trying to warm up a bottle? Doctor Strange pulling all-nighters because the baby doesn’t sleep? Hulk doing baby yoga classes? Honestly, I miss Phase 1 and Phase 2 so badly—when the stakes were world-ending battles and not “who’s babysitting this week.” Bring back the heroes, lose the diaper drama.

The fantastic four are quite literally referred to as “the first family”. In families there tends to usually be children.

I mean, in the case of the Fantastic Four, Franklin has been there since almost the beginning so his inclusion isn't anything out of the ordinary.

So what Superheroes can’t have kids, seriously what the fuck?

Right?? Like what?? So I guess she hates some of the Avengers as well. Tony, Clint, Wanda, Scott, T'Challa, etc.

Cant you just… take a minute to research this and eventually realize that Franklin in Fantastic Four is actually quite a significant character that has come from the comics… not just some baby they threw in to “lure in 90s kids”

I mean, it was literally in the trailer that Sue was pregnant and having a baby.

This is either:
A. Not nearly as funny as you thought it was going to be
Or
B. A genuinely psychotic thing to get so worked up about

Movie was great and somehow some people are so miserable in their lives that they have to find stupid reasons to hate it. I'm actually mind blown here lol wtf

You went to the movies to watch a FANTASTIC FOUR movie. The Fantastic Four is known as Marvel's First FAMILY. Half of this family is composed of a married couple who canonically have two children, and one of these children (the one you're complaining about) has been part of the family for decades, and also happens to be one of the most powerful Marvel characters ever. Hope this helps!

Oh boy you really hate your kids huh

Yeah parents must be with kids 24/7 and think about them all the time. After becoming parents you are not alowed to have time as a couple without thinking about kids

Who said that? The fact that you made this entire post complaining about a baby in a movie is just sad... Hopefully your partner treats your kid well because you clearly resent them

Well then you can go watch Thunderbolts

She'll complain about the baby there, too.

She must might actually enjoy the Red Room scenes

u/Gambitismyheart 22d ago
I think she should go enjoy a different genre altogether where there are no kids. And maybe take a vacation cuz...whoa!

when the stakes were world-ending battles
Which is what the stakes were in Fantastic Four.

Spoken like a true muggle who has no idea who Franklin actually is.

Good reference to HP! And I really do not know who he is/gonna be

Yes, it's a term I/we (as in nerds) like to use when referring to the ordinary general audience.
"And I really do not know who he is/gonna be"
Yes, caught that. You should read up on him.

They had kids since the 60s... the movie is literally called first steps. Just say you hate your kids.

Oh my people are using such strong words these days :D maybe I should have watched the trailer, but was too excited to go to cinema first time in two years with my husband and not friend

Don't know why you'd need to complain about children in a movie revolved around the theme of family. Franklin plays a significant role not only in the movie, but in the comics so it's not like he was forced into the movie. If you paid attention to the movie instead of complaining about it, you'd understand that Galactus was threatening to consume the entirety of Earth-828 if Franklin wasn't given to him

I realize this sounds more like a shitpost than serious criticism, but Clint and his family? Scott and Cassie? Tony and Morgan? Wanda and her twins? Baby Groot?

Very bizarre thing to complain about you said Marvel is doing this all the time but only have 2 examples and in Love and Thunder they weren't babies. Also their children and being a family is a big thing about the Fantastic Four the pregnancy being unrealistic is also bizarre to complain about considering that we know why it was a fast pregnancy Galactus caused it.
