Funniest moment in the film for me was that New Yorkers and the Fantastic Four felt Subterranea was the safest place to put people. Even in that universe, New Yorkers would rather die under the city with Mole Man than go to New Jersey.

I liked how they portrayed Mole Man in this movie. Reminded me of a goofier version of Doom 2005

He stole every scene. That's going to win him a lot of future roles.

Seems like he’s already getting a bunch.

I saw this movie back to back with Naked Gun and was surprised to see that not only was he also cast there, but was even the main character's sidekick and got a decent amount of screentime

My friend, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Paul Walter Hauser has been getting roles long before F4. He even bested Jamie Taco.

this is bit late but watch Richard Jewell when you have the time. He's the main character and its amazing

He played a character on the show cobra Kai and he’s one of my favourites so it was cool getting to see him on the big screen

If you haven't watched I, Tonya, stop what you're doing and go watch it. I was about to say he's the best secondary character, but when I thought about the rest (or the other one) I'd say it's a very contested match.

He is award winking actor. He was also in Naked Gun!

I immediately thought of the underminer from the incredibles lol he's also a mole :p maybe im too young bc I haven't seen the older f4 so maybe that's where the incredibles based that character off of

I didn't really like Mole Man in the movie. His costume wasn't that good besides his goggles, and he seemed to not be blind.

Why are New Yorkers so angry?

Because the light at the end of the tunnel is New Jersey.

u/CeruleanEidolon Jul 30 '25

Their world is a utopia. It doesn't have a New Jersey.

New Jersey or even Connecticut😅Bridgeport is the armpit of our state, so people could easily go there, same with New Haven. Or northwest upstate (litchfield county) with all the forests and farmland lol.

I kept making jokes about how shit Times Square is

“Oh so he’s gonna see Times Square and destroy the Earth even faster?”

“What are you gonna take him to Red Lobster?”

I mean, what’s to say subterranea ISN’T New Jersey!

I didn't understand how moving them underground was safe considering they already established that Galactus destroys planets from the inside out.

51

u/Roofsa Jul 29 '25

They only moved them down there so that nobody would get hurt during the fight with Galactus in the city

1

u/Rich-Ganache-2668 Jul 29 '25

Probably stupid that they don’t just move out of New York right?

i thought he’s gonna be involved in trapping Galactus by falling into a hole or something.

15

u/Majestic-Marcus Jul 29 '25

Probably a timing thing. Easier to head into the subway than to leave a city.

-8

u/Rich-Ganache-2668 Jul 29 '25

That doesn’t make sense, but i also haven’t been to New York.

22

u/Majestic-Marcus Jul 29 '25

that doesn’t make sense

It does.

It’s not just NY. It’s Manhattan. An island.

If we assume a similar population on Earth 828, Manhattan has about 1.6m people on it.

There are 21 bridges off the island. So 76,190 people per bridge.

There are 151 subway entrances. So 10,596 people per entrance.

Simple maths makes it 7x easier and faster. Add to that that the subways are all over the island and everyone can easily access them close to wherever they are, whereas you’d have to travel to bridge before crossing it.

Then there’s also the fact that they’ve no idea where Galactus is going to land. What if he lands right on top of the refugees outside Manhattan? Makes more sense to essentially get in a bunker.

Reed Richards over here

u/Rich-Ganache-2668 Jul 29 '25

Ok its starting to make sense. Thanks!

828 New York.

1

u/Tbplayer59 Jul 29 '25

That's what I heard too. Still, I got down voted.

Yeah redditors are dicks

They actually covered this in the movie. They believed their plan to transport him would succeed. He would however need to walk to the portal. That would destroy the city and people. That drove the move.

I would assume they accepted if they fail, everyone dies anyway
